Roto Grip has engineered the TNT upper-mid performance bowling ball to offer more torque and more power than previous low RG symmetrical balls. The core and cover combination on this ball create an explosive reaction, as the name suggests. This ball introduces the Torpex core which places the Torque Sphere just above the mid-point of the core. This design creates a low RG and a high differential which results in more motion and more continuation through the pins. The coverstock on this ball is the proven eTrax PLUS Solid Reactive. This coverstock provides more grip and response to friction while still offering ease through the beginning of the lane and ultimately more forgiveness on medium to medium/heavy oil.

TNT is dynamite with the Torpex core and eTrax PLUS solid coverstock. The torque sphere within the core creates a lower RG and higher differential which translates to more overall motion and less deflection through the pins. eTrax+ is cleaner than MicroTrax, but more aggressive than eTrax. The design intent was for the TNT to be a benchmark ball on medium to heavy patterns, much like the original Idol. The TNT gave me a good look to the pocket on the house pattern looking 15-16 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. As the lanes broke down I was able to move left, but not open my angles as the ball either overreacted off the friction or struggled to make the turn down lane. I expect the TNT to be an excellent ball on flatter, higher volume patterns because it is early, smooth, and predictable. It will slot below the Roto Grip Gem or 900 Global Realty and above the Roto Grip Idol Cosmos or Storm Phaze II. The New Roto Grip TNT is your new benchmark ball. With the eTrax Solid Coverstock, it fits in that Idol and Phaze 2 range. Now when I compared the Phaze 2 to the TNT, the TNT was a lot earlier and smoother off the spot while the Phaze 2 was cleaner and more angular. Definitely see this ball fitting in the bag and recommend this ball to anyone who likes to play a little straighter or to players who throw it harder.

The new HP3 release from Roto Grip features a brand new core called the Torpex. The torpex design makes this ball extremely driller friendly and forgiving. They wrapped it in the Etrax Plus cover. The 2000 grit finish on this cover-stock gives you so much early motion, this ball is the most aggressive HP3 ball in the front of the lane to date.
I first tested the TNT on the high volume/ longer house pattern at my home center. I had managed to see a few reviews before I got ahold of mine. My worry with balls that have aggressive covers is that with my ball speed I will either:
A) Not be able to get the ball through the front
B) Not get the ball to retain energy when I do
Because of this I opted for a bit weaker layout on my TNT. The 5 1/2 inch pin to pap and 3 inch pin buffer will usually help cut flare and draw out the transition so that the ball doesn't lock up for me in the mid-lane. First couple of shots I was pretty surprised at how despite the ball definitely still seeing the mid-lane, it was actually much more forgiving that most of the balls I've been trying to throw game one.
Our lane beds are pretty beat up so to combat all of the early friction, there is a very high volume of oil used. The down-side to this is that the lanes begin to carry-down noticeably right out of practice. This gets frustrating because the fronts can get chewed up pretty fast and the backends stay tight so the balls that are stronger in the front get too early and the down-lane oil makes it difficult for them to recover. It was actually a problem I had trouble combating until I threw the TNT. This ball's ability to always see the mid-lane really takes the backend out of play. It doesn't stop either, so it's very forgiving on errant shots. Our ratio is pretty high and this ball really lets you take advantage of it like no other ball will.
Now that I've had a chance to throw it and stay in it so long because of the down-lane forgiveness I'm pretty sure I want to try one with a stronger layout too for when I need the ball to slow down a bit more down-lane. So much for my initial worries. I would recommend this ball for those speed dominant bowlers who need the early motion and for any style bowler who ever runs into an issue with getting their ball to react consistently down-lane. The layouts you can choose to make this ball useful don't really shut anyone out of using he TNT.

The TNT is the newest strong symmetric piece by Roto Grip. After seeing the numbers on this ball, I was need of a strong, controlled piece in my tournament arsenal and that’s exactly what I got. I drilled mine 4-1/4†pin under my ring which gets this piece rolling early and control the backend for fresh sport shots, shorter sport patterns, or the first couple of games of league. This ball is big and early which can be a great control piece with big hitting power! I really don’t see this as a “stand left, throw right†piece as the cover is very strong. Polish can be added to increase skid and retain more energy on the backend. This will be a benchmark piece for sure where this ball can tell you what the lanes are giving you. If you’re looking for an early rolling piece, this one will not disappoint with its hitting power!!

The TNT is Roto Grip’s new HP3 ball with the Torpex Core and ETrax Plus Solid coverstock. The HP3 line is the birthplace of the Idol so the TNT has a lot to live up to. After watching some videos of the TNT before I drilled it, I saw a really strong ball that definitely appeared early and on the rounder side of reactions. I did not use a standard layout for my TNT. I put the pin in my ring finger for a 3.5 x 6 x 3 layout to try to take advantage of the characteristics of the ball. My TNT reads the lane pretty early and definitely has more of a slow, arching motion that will be great when control and stability are required. I can’t open my angles up much with the TNT in its out of box surface, but if i keep angles a bit more closed and square, it hits like a tank. Compared to balls in the Roto Grip line like the Idol Cosmos and Exotic Gem, the TNT is much more slow and controlled with the Cosmos and Exotic being more responsive. In summary, the TNT is a unique ball. It isn’t going to wow you with backend, but it does provide a great purpose in my bag. It blends wet/dry house walls well and it controls flatter patterns because of how slow it is on the lane.
The TNT is designed to be a benchmark type reaction. I think mine is a bit strong to be a benchmark ball with my chosen layout, but I feel like it could be for bowlers with lower rev rates and/or higher ball speeds.

Roto Grip’s new TNT is a Symmetrical Solid piece that is good for Medium Oil conditions. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers and CG kicked out 1†from the palm. Out of Box ball motion started early in the mid’s with a smooth motion on the backend. I changed the Surface with 2000 & 3000 Abralon similar motion through the fronts with more backend motion. I compared this piece with 3 pieces on a Fresh House Shot pattern. The Hustle PBR 4-4 Right was a few feet further down lane with more backend motion. Hustle Camo was 3-3 further right but cleaner through the fronts and sharper backend. And Idol Helios was 2-2 Right with a smoother and a little stronger on the backend. This piece is good for High rev bowlers.

I did not expect to be able to throw this ball with the out of box surface being at 2000 grit, but not only did it strike, but it struck all night. I fully expected that I'd throw a few shots then put it away before I took it to 3000, where I thought I'd need it, but this ball rolled great right off the press. Strong in the mid lane but still continuous on the back end. Normally, for me, balls with that much surface will make its move and then just roll out. The TNT, however, it just kept digging and hits like a truck. I really like the way it shapes up in the mid-lane, if your looking for mid-lane reaction and continuous drive, this is the ball for you. This one might stay in the bag for a while. Contemplating drilling a 2nd one to polish, might be just as good.

The all new TNT fills a major hole in the SPI line that I have personally been looking for lately. SPI has been missing a low RG symmetrical solid with a strong cover like the eTrax Plus Solid coverstock featured on the TNT. This ball by the numbers (RG/Diff) is extremely close to the Phase II, however, the new eTrax Plus Solid coverstock gives me more grip and responsiveness to the friction. This ball will be extremely good when I need to blend out wet/dry lane conditions. Historically, symmetrical balls roll better for me than asymmetric cores so I am excited for this ball to go into my tournament arsenal so I can have a ball with a strong symmetric core/cover combination that I can help me hook it with the best of them on long/high volume oil patterns. This ball will be a must have for tournament bowlers looking for a strong controllable motion on longer fresh oil patterns.

Review:
If you are looking for a new benchmark ball, look no further than the TNT. This ball reminds me a lot of the original Idol. I found that the TNT did read a little earlier than the original Idol, but overall I felt that ball was cleaner than the Idol. This ball really likes to move when it hits the lanes. This provides the bowler and opportunity to use this ball on many different conditions, from the typical house shot to the higher volume patterns. Even with how strong this ball was I found that it was very controllable and predictable down lane. Just like the Idol I can see this ball in my bag for a long time, make sure you pick yours up as soon as they are available.

Roto Grip has delivered an explosive new release with the TNT. And from my first roll with the TNT, it was obvious that Roto Grip heard the needs of down and in players like me. And they responded with a powerful new weapon to keep the THS (typical house shot) bowler in the fight! So, let’s take a closer look at what makes the TNT potent ammunition for your game.
The Torpex symmetrical core seriously caught me off-guard! I liked how the Torpex core fights to stand up but does so in such a smooth and continuous roll that I didn’t expect to see the power it unleashes when it strikes the pins! Because of my down and in and low rev style, symmetrical cores tend to roll out and run out of gas as they get to the pocket. That is not the case with the TNT! The Torpex core hits seriously hard and has a continuation that rivals some of my bigger asymmetrical cores balls. And lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed the predictable motion the Torpex delivered for me, shot after shot.
Now, let’s talk about the ETRAX Plus Solid coverstock. I found the ETRAX Plus Solid to be a thick oil-absorbing cover without being overly aggressive. And the 2000-grit Abralon surface makes it ideal for THS conditions. Being a straighter player, I liked how the ETRAX Plus found strong traction early in its roll but still allowed the TNT to detonate its power off the pattern. And as the conditions transitioned and headed into game three. I appreciated the ETRAX Plus Solid’s ability to blend the wet/dry and spotty conditions to give me the same smooth look all night.
The One caveat I have for the ETRAX Plus Solid is because of its porous and absorbent nature. I would highly suggest keeping it clean. Wipe your TNT between every shot, and use a good cleaner at the end of your league play. Further, have the oil extracted every thirty or so games to keep it fresh and crisp. The ETRAX Plus Solid is a robust solid cover that will last you a very long time with the proper maintenance.
In conclusion, Roto Grip has produced a winner with the TNT. I highly recommend the TNT for straighter, high-speed, low-rev players like me. And if you are a weekly league bowler, the TNT will deliver top-tier results at a mid-level price, making it a great “bang†for the buck! So, stop into your local Storm VIP Pro Shop and have your TNT drilled up for tonight’s league! The results will be dynamite!

The TNT is a new solid sym from Roto Grip. It features the Etrax Plus Solid, which is a Solid version of the X2 cover. The Core is new too and features a slightly lower RG and same Diff as the Idol. The result is a ball that is strong but still revs up and tips a lot more than you think. I took mine up to 4k on the spinner and let it lane shine a little. It’s still very strong but it gets though the fronts and tips plenty. I have a pin up one that I throw a lot on the fresh and it rolls great and I have a pin down I like almost as much (I had a 21 bagger to start the night with the pin down one). I have the TNT as the strongest overall symmetrical that we make.

I am extremely happy with the new Roto Grip TNT. I have not shot a low game yet with this ball. The TNT fits right between the Hustle USA and the original Gem in my Roto line up. The TNT is also above the Hyped Solid in total hook. The TNT rolls up early but just keeps coming with no quit. The TNT is not an angular ball but has a powerful controlled motion throughout the whole lane. This ball hits great and carry is excellent for a smooth ball. I bowled on a difficult lane condition for the video with the TNT and it overcame the pattern. The lanes had a ton of carry down and back end move was hardly there. This was for all bowlers and balls that went down the lane that morning. I was impressed by how the TNT would set up high flush without over reacting and also carried light hits with power. On our oilier house shot when I need a ball with more bite but control the TNT has been excellent. I am going to drill up my second one and polish it. I feel I will be equally pleased with that set up. We have drilled a good amount of these so far for my customers and we have seen great ball motions from a variety of styles. This ball looks great on the shelf and even better going down the lane.
Summary:
The TNT is becoming one of my favorite balls to roll right now.
The TNT has a very strong continuous motion.
The TNT works great on house shot and should be great on sport patterns as well.

The TNT is the newest ball in the Roto Grip HP3 line. It features a new core design that creates the lowest RG symmetrical core ever, and a high differential which translates to an early and consistent ball motion with less deflection going through the pins. The cover features the solid version of eTrax Plus, which was first used in a pearlized form on the RST-X2, and provides increased traction for a forgiving reaction on the lane.
With the Roto Grip TNT, I’ve seen early and continuous ball motion which has been very much needed in my arsenal. It’s a step down from the Roto Grip Gem but is above balls like the Idol Cosmos. The TNT gives me a very strong and stable reaction which can be great for blending out over/under league conditions, but I think this will be even better on shorter to medium length sport/challenge conditions. Specifically, I’m thinking this could be a really good ball to start with for the USBC Open team event, then once the lanes settle in moving into something that’s still strong but a bit cleaner.
I’ve left the surface on my TNT at box finish, and plan on keeping it near the 2000-grit Abralon factory finish so that I have that stable and forgiving benchmark-type ball reaction in my bag. This will be a must have for tournament bowlers, but I could certainly see others bringing it up to either a 4000-grit or polished finish to help it retain more energy and shape for the backend. Either way, the TNT will undoubtedly be blowing up racks!

This is a great release from Roto Grip. The technical data has benchmark ball written all over it. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This ball compares closely to the Phaze 2, so those of you who love Roto and are looking for that GOAT sort of ball, this fits in perfectly. This ball does like oil, and speed, or a good combination of both to be honest. Slower ball speeds may want to take the cover up to 3000 or 4k to see a little more length. This ball is incredibly continuous and it really does speak to its name when it hits the pins because they do seem to fly different. We see this ball easily being that next ‘house shot killer’ and we expect this bowling ball in a lot of customers hands. Visit your local Pro Shop Operator and ask about the TNT today!

The TNT is the newest ball in Roto Grip's HP3 line. Boasting an RG of 2.47 and a Diff of 0.052, the TNT is going to be explosive through the pins. This TNT is drilled 4.5x4x4 2LS and the Axiom is as well. The TNT is early and controllable, and that gives it a strong benchmark shape that the Axiom has provided in years past. The new ETRAX Plus solid cover and Torpex Core give us a unique shape that we haven't seen since the Idol or Axiom, which is what people have been missing in their bags. If you need a ball that is going to let you control the pocket on higher volume patterns in higher friction centers that don't allow you to through bigger asym balls like the Reality, Super Nova, or Proton Physix, then the TNT is the ball for you.

Review
The HP3 TNT is a fiery benchmark BOOM!! Its here to blow up racks. Roto Grips introduction on the eTrax Plus solid reactive cover wrapped around the Torpex symmetric core makes for one of the most aggressive benchmark balls. The TNT has an RG of 2.47 and differential of 0.052, which makes it read the midlane earlier than the idol series with same backend and hitting power. This ball is great on medium oil patterns and it able to perform at a high level in the track area and in to the fourth arrow without any loss of ball reaction and pin carry. Put your favorite pin up layout on the TNT and you will not be disappointed. This ball is a must have for league and tournament bowlers. Now available for order at your local pro shop! Roto Grip TNT Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
One of the newest additions to the Roto Grip Line is the TNT. With it’s bright orange colors and yellow writing, the TNT stands out not only with it’s looks but it’s performance too. Because I had a feeling the TNT was going to be super strong, I decided to polish it right out of the box and use it right away. I’ve been extremely happy with the performance thus far and plan on taking it with me to league and tournaments. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it.
The first one I drilled is mapped out as 5.5 x 4 x 2.5. This puts the pin above my bridge with a slight shift of the CG. Because the RG is 2.47 and differential is .052, I knew the TNT wanted to read the lane early and not ever slow down. Because the pin is 5.5†from my axis, this creates length and a quicker response time compared to if I were to have drilled it stronger. I see the TNT as a nice compliment to my Eternity and Revenant. It has a slower response time compared to my Eternity but my Revenant is much cleaner and quicker down lane.
If you need a great benchmark piece for multiple types of patterns, drill a TNT. It’s been a perfect addition to the Roto Grip line!

Wow! Is this a big surprise. The TNT is new Technology all around. The TNT is one of the strongest symmetrical balls I have seen by SPI. It is had a smooth rounded shape the has a strong backend motion with huge continuation through the pins. The TNT picks up gets going and just keeps going. It’s bit earlier than a Phaze 2 and a bit stronger off the spot. This will be a great bench mark ball for bowlers with lower rev rates sense the ball definitely picks up down lane. It will fit most play styles and good on medium to heavier oil conditions. If you’re looking for a strong symmetrical solid the TNT will definitely fill the spot.

The new Roto Grip TNT features an all-new coverstock, the eTrax plus solid coverstock. The engine inside is the new Torpex core. This ball comes finished at 2000 grit abralon. The 15 pound version features a low RG of 2.47 with a differential of .052. I drilled my TNT with a little longer pin than normal just to try and get a little more length out of it. I drilled it 5.5 x 4.5 x 2.5. The TNT is a step down in overall hook for the Roto Grip Gem. It has an overall similar motion, but for me is about 5 boards weaker than the Gem. For me, this makes the TNT a move user friendly ball with more opportunity to throw the TNT. The Gem is made for oil, the TNT is made for medium conditions. The TNT is cleaner through the fronts when compared to the Gem. For house shots with a good volume of oil, the TNT shines. With its 2000 grit finish, the ball does not read the friction too quickly, so those errant shots to the right don’t stand up at the arrows, the ball just kind of slowly arcs its way back to the pocket. For the errant shots in the puddle, the TNT is strong enough to dig in the oil and have enough hitting power to carry the corner pins. When the lanes start to break down, that’s the time you probably need to get out of this ball. The TNT explodes but it needs oil to do so.

The latest Roto Grip release has everyone blowing up the racks of pins with it. Using an idea from an earlier core design, Roto Grip R&D crew came up with the Torpex core. Which added a sphere just above the equator of the core, which in short terms allows less deflection when going through the pins. Using a revised version of e-Trax Plus coverstock has a solid version of it, the OG e-Trax Plus coverstock was a pearl version on the Roto Grip RST-X2, which is more forgiving no matter how you roll the ball, or how you drill it. For pro shop crews its very driller friendly. Great all-round solid reactive coverstock. While running Storm Matchmaker events that included the TNT, I noticed that the TNTs that are in the set started rolling and hitting better after the covers got line shine on them. I usually will touch up the coverstocks on the solid reactive balls in the Matchmaker sets, but I left the TNTs alone seeing how they started to roll better over time. While using my personal TNT, the same thing occurred, once the cover got lane shine on it, the ball was pure MONEY! My long practice session that I used the TNT, DNA, and iQ Ruby, it was quite surprising that the TNT helped up as the lanes transitioned during the session. I videotaped early and late in the session with the TNT and with just minor feet and angle adjustments, the TNT kept striking and striking. Best solid reactive I have used in years at a center that has SPL. Could never get the solid covers to recover enough over the course of the league or tournaments at that center. They would great on fresh, but would sizzle out after a few games, but the TNT I was able to use throughout the whole league night and also tournament settings.

Roto Grip TNT is the newest version of the control symmetrical solid that is a must-have for any competitive bowler. Overall, this ball reminds me generally of the Idol, Haywire or Zen Master. The slower response allows for maximum control of the breakpoint. The TNT is unique in that it maintains its axis longer and isn't as liable to roll out or deflect like some of the other shapes before it. Overall, the TNT is great for flatter conditions and for blending out the "cliff"

The newest ball in the Roto Grip H3 Line. Very bright Red/Orange colors which is great shelf appeal. The new Roto Grip TNT features an all-new coverstock, the eTrax plus solid coverstock. I drilled mine 4 1/4 x 3 x 2 and added Storm Step 2 compound.
I actually shot 300 right of the press in my Thursday night league. The TNT is a little early and rolly ball motion. The TNT reminds a little of the RG Haywire which is my all time favorite RG ball. Great benchmark ball and a ball that really shines when going up the lane. If you looking for this ball to hockey stick or or backend hard this is not your ball. Storm has a good selection of those. I also was able to use the TNT at Reno Team Event with great success (740), as slower response ball was perfect for Nationals.
So TNT is also good for the flatter patterns and the ones you need control. Great addition to the RG line!

The TNT is a new symmetric ball in Roto Grip’s HP3 line. It features the solid version of the RST X-2 cover in eTrax+ solid, which is a clean and responsive cover formula, and the new Torpex core which bears a “striking†resemblance to the Orbital core from Storm’s Axiom. Its 2.47 RG in 15 pounds is the lowest RG Roto has featured in a symmetric ball, while the .052 diff is on par with the other strong cores we’ve seen in the line like the Ikon core from the Idol series. This creates a very heavy and strong roll that elevates the overall strength of the ball beyond what you might assume from the specs on paper.
I adjusted the surface of the TNT prior to using it, I took it to 1000 grit on a resurfacing machine, then finished it on a spinner with a light coat of Storm’s Step 2 compound to shine it slightly. My speed is too slow for the 2000 box surface to be effective for me on most conditions, however I think the box surface is generally appropriate for the ball design. I’ve used this ball on both a house shot and Kegel Chromium (challenge pattern)
The TNT is definitely an EARLY rolling ball, also very smooth, and somewhat directional. For me it preferred straighter angles, and I think in general it will for most due to the shot shape and type of reaction. While it was better than I expected on the house pattern, I think its best used on tougher conditions because of how extremely well it manages the midlane and how consistent and FORGIVING it is. It’s a very stable reaction, controlling the lane and pattern both front to back and left to right better than virtually anything else I’ve thrown. This is an elite level sport ball in my opinion, on par with the Idol and Phaze 2. While it’s not quite as strong as those 2 due to the much weaker coverstock formula, it’s much closer than it appears to be on paper. The core’s contribution to that is significant due to the heavy roll and how fast the ball wants to slow down. Being symmetric, the ball is very DRILLER-FRIENDLY, and I feel like you could have a couple of these with different layouts and surfaces together in the same bag. The TNT reminds me of the Zen Master, just refined and dramatically improved.

This ball is dynamite. First of the looks are straight fire. I would say this is stronger than a PHAZE2 or original idol with very similar shape. Let me also say that those 2 balls i hated out of the box. Stuck with them got some lane shine and they never left my arsenal till now. Welcome the TNT to the bag. This ball is a hook monster that is continuous down lane and through the pins. Very confident getting in and wheeling the lane with this. This ball is dynamite

I drilled my TNT 4 1/2 x 3 x 2. I left this one at the box finish which is 2000.
The early scuttle on this one from other staffers is controllable but strong motion. Many plan to take this one to USBC Nationals a strong control piece.
I compared it to the GEM, an original IDOL, and a EXOTIC GEM. Compare to the GEM, the TNT is a definite slower reaction but still early like the GEM. If you are needing to keep it in front of you and the GEM is starting to go too early, then the TNT is in play. Compared to the original IDOL, you can see a lot of the same motion. I like my IDOL when the lanes were tougher but I wanted the ball to grip the lane a little earlier in an arcing motion. The TNT cover is slightly newer so it is a few boards earlier than the OG IDOL. Compared to the EXOTIC GEM was almost not fair. The EXOTIC skated past the spot on to much oil where the TNT had it, and when the lanes got hooking more, the TNT went more forward than the EXOTIC. Almost not a fair fight between those two.
Drill up a TNT if you want a good strong control ball for tougher/slicker lanes. The core/cover combo will immediately make you think of the original IDOL which was very controllable except a newer cover that grabs earlier.

Just what I was looking for. I relied heavily on my Phaze II in tournament settings and was looking for something that had just a bit more roll and really plowed through the oil. As the ball has continued to lane shine I have grown to like it even more. I find myself using it in league much more than I thought I would as the shot has proven to have much more oil than previous years. I wouldn't go as far as to say it is a "benchmark" ball even though it has been advertised as such, it is however very "comfy" to throw in many situations. It's not my first ball out of the bag but it is always IN my bag and ready.

The Roto Grip TNT is the newest ball in the HP3 line for Roto Grip. This features a new core in the Torpex and the solid eTrax plus cover. This ball is going to be similar to those Idols of the past. The TNT is going to start up a little sooner than the Idol but have a more responsive move on the back end. This is going to be a great benchmark ball for those people who have lower rev rates but also for higher ball speed and rev rate. I found this ball to read earlier than other solids but with the layout gave me a fast move on the back end. This ball is going to be a great control ball for me with being higher ball speed. The Roto Grip TNT is being called possibly the predecessor to the previously released Magenta Idol. It has the eTraxâ„¢ PLUS solid coverstock wrapped around the Torpex core. I drilled mine 5x4x2, I am a low track player, 480RPM, 14 degrees of tilt, 55 degrees of axis rotation, average of 16.4MPH. What I saw was actually a surprising amount of easy length through the front part of the lane for a solid cover. In my initial test on our THS, the track area proved to be a little too much too early for the TNT, and I didn't really find a comfortable position for it until I got to around the 18-20 board range. Once I got there, I found a little area left and right and that seemed to be where the TNT was comfortable. Of course many variables are in play, if you have higher speed, more oil, less rev rate, or vice versa, your mileage will definitely vary. I compared it to my Phaze II as well as my IQ Tour Solid. The Phaze II was most definitely sharper down lane, and the IQ Tour solid was slower and more rounded. The TNT seems to fit right between those two as far as break point shape. Overall strength would be a different story as I would have the TNT the strongest out of the 3.

Review:
The TNT features the eTrax + solid reactive which makes the TNT distinctive in the Roto Grip line of bowling balls. In comparison to the Helios the TNT is earlier and a tad smoother. However, the TNT provides a touch more length then the Gem.
Anything you desire in a ball to create earlier hook and control the TNT is what you are looking for. If you have been following the USBC Open scene the TNT has been a favorite to provide the bowler a nice controlled reaction for the patterns. In addition, at recent SPI MatchMaker events the TNT has grown in popularity for arsenals as a first ball out of the bag.
Overall, I feel the oob finish is a tad strong and needs to settle in a bit. Either let the TNT lane shine slightly over a few games or knock the peaks of the surface down a touch with a 3K or 4K pad. Just to note, in my area the lanes tend to be older surfaces and get "sparky" fairly quickly. The TNT has its place as that control piece when you have it set to where you need it.
The TNT will work best on medium and higher volume patterns. If your desire is to have control at the end of the pattern the TNT will nail it. Don't hesitate to try out the TNT. Smoooooth in a box! First of all, this ball and I did NOT get a long. Being a Pro Shop Owner/Operator, this ball is SUPER useful for some very important customers. My older crowed who has pretty slow ball speed are loving this ball!! I also have some high Rev players who get to play much further right than normal, with this bad boy! I think this ball is a testament to the workers in Utah for catering to all aspects of bowling.
I drilled my TNT pin down which accentuated the issue of the ball being longer and smooth. Although I changed surfaces a couple times, I just couldn’t see where this ball really fit into my arsenal on house shots.
If you have watched any of the PBA qualifying, you have seen the TNT get a lot of play. I can’t wait for the summer sport shot sweepers that are everywhere, go get some use on shorter patters with this ball!

I am a higher speed, rev challenged 220-250ish, high tilt, high rotation, and super low track player, I drilled my Roto Grip TNT 5x3x2 using the Storm VLS and my axis point is 3 ¼ right and 7/8 up. The Roto Grip TNT has definitely become one of my newer favorite release, especially for sport shots. The Roto Grip TNT is a perfect new addition to my arsenal because it is strong and early rolling solid that has a smooth transition that allows me to play straighter angles. Likes: So far I love it on every pattern imaginable. On the short stuff it is smooth and round enough to be used instead of urethane here and there but on the longer stuff it still has plenty of dig when you need it! On house shots it is extremely good at blending the cliff left to right and front to back. I drilled mine with a 5x4x3 and it made it not flare a ton and I think that helped it a lot for me. Even though it is a slightly stronger symmetrical I can still get away with using it on fresh and come game 3/4. This ball can really do it all!
