Has anyone drilled one with the pin down? I'm drilling one tomorrow, and I planned on the pin under the middle, with the cg kicked to about 3/4 ounces positive, leaving room for a weighthole if I later want one. I'm just wondering if this drilling will make the ball more controllable, also with sheening the ball to about 1200 wetsand?

I have mine drilled pin above ring finger about 1 1/2 and cg slightly swung 3/4 of inch right, goes long and is nice and smooth with good power left at the pins. It has no mb marked so dont worry about it too much just make sure you have positive side mine has just under 1 oz.

Normally I'd agree with you about having the mass bias in your track for a control drill, but what I have found is, that the core plays a very big part in how much real control you have. With these "drier" lane balls, because the coverstocks are so mild the engine tends to take over, as the ball goes down the lane. Consequently, what is normally a control drill on medium and more aggressive balls becomes a flip drill on these type balls. Primarily because they get thru the heads so easily, everything gets saved for the backend! So, I've found using the pin over/under the ring, with the MB kicked out, gives you a much smoother and easier to read reaction.
