- Description:  At Roto Grip, we rule the  lanes! And you better have your game in gear if you want the same.  Starting at the center, the “GUTS”, the new Paragon™ core features  contours designed to help expand the RG planes of the ball. This unique  elliptical shape defines predictability of axis migration and allows you  to perfectly match up your ball reaction to the condition at hand.  Strong midlane roll and a HUGE continuous, sweeping hook on the backend!  This is a serious technological advancement.  Moving on to the shell, the “GRIT”, we’ve developed a new MicroBite  coverstock that is stronger and more textured than the competition.  Microtechnology, the use of extremely-small structured additives down to  a millionth of a meter, makes this possible. When finished with  3000-grit Abralon, this new MicroBite shell creates friction where  others just cannot!  And finally, looking at the “GRIME”, the designated oil pattern and lane  condition, the Defiant is sure to handle even the heaviest amounts of  oil. Today’s lane oils have more solids than ever before, making the  lanes very slick at times. With the new Defiant, no more worrying about  heavy oil often found on tournament shots! Roto Grip has you covered.

COMMENTS

Likes: The Defiant was very clean through the fronts for a strong Asymmetrical Ball.  But it has very good mid-lane read and doesn't squirt through the break-point.  The Defiant showed its strength on our house shot when the backs very not very clean and had some carrydown.  The ball didn't wiggle down lane like some balls would.  We have over a 100 units of oil in the middle part of our house shot and defiant cut right through it and had a strong arcing motion on the back.  Feedback from our customers was that they were amazed with the great carry they got from the Defiant.
This ball is will fit all styles of bowlers as the coverstock is very versatile.  Along with the ball being driller friendly.
The high rev bowlers will have to add step 2 or some light polish.

Compared to Virtual Gravity Nano, the Defiant is cleaner through the fronts and has a little more backend motion.
Defiant is another great product from Storm/Roto Grip Family.

Hello all and thanks for reading.  This review is accompanied by the the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExRr2D5EhFU&feature=relmfu

So those of you who don't have a Defiant,.....  well..... WHY NOT!!!!   This ball is absolutely amazing.  Hitting Power, Hook Potential, Core, Coverstock. There is nothing about this ball that should be taken lightly.  The new MicroBite Coverstock in combination with the new Paragon Core allows many options not to mention how well this coverstock takes to surface changes.
I decided to use a drilling that I enjoy and modify it a little bit.  70 x 4 7/8 x 60.  This drilling allows me to use it on some of the more medium conditions and play the middle more effectively.  Make no mistake though, this ball enjoys oil and make bowling on the heaviest of conditions much more comfortable.  You can see in the video this ball picks up in the midlane and begins rolling right in the middle and does not need the lighter parts of the lane (outside) to start its move.  On the backend is makes its move and starts rolling forward providing excellent hitting power and continuation through the pins.

I have enjoyed this ball so much I have 3 now.  Three different surface, with three different drilling patterns that I have experimented with and can use all varieties of surfaces on all of the drilling patterns.  This ball is quite literally confidence in a box and our pro shop hasn't drilled one without rave reviews yet.  Keep the Great work up Roto. You are truly the King and you have the most Defiant man in the world on your side.  Thanks Randy

Roto Grip Defiant #5         serial#12RDED03K013      layout: 65 x 5 ½ x 40
Drilled this Defiant to compliant my two new EDGES and my new Critical Theory I drilled for the upcoming tournament season. Mainly, did this for longer sport patterns I will be seeing. Tested on Dead Man’s Curve, Highway to Hell and Mexico City on HPL… Found the length and the hook angle ideal for these patterns, the ball was too strong on HPL house and on the SPL house pattern it was MONEY… Love the length this layout gave me, it did not burn up in the front part of the lane on SPL and still had plenty of backend and pocket angle. I drilled a number of these balls for some of my customers at HBC in Hanover, because the SPL is new and the lane pattern is super tight. If you bowl in a center with a tight house pattern, this BALL is for you.

Roto Grip Defiant! This ball is amazing! I bought a used one for $30 in pretty good shape. I was looking for a cover that likes to dig into oil with a core that revs up quickly without burning up. This ball does exactly what I was looking for. Being that I have a high Rev rate (550+) and high speed, I am able to use this ball on any condition with a decent amount of oil. The continuation on this ball is disgusting! it reminds me of my favorite ball Danger Zone HPD. If you need a ball to control the oil without an overwhelming amount of hook, grab a Defiant!
