New Spare Ball?
« on: November 15, 2007, 01:42:05 AM »
Has anyone heard if Roto will be coming out with a new spare ball to replace the Spare Tire? As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't have to be clear. It just has to be purty.

The Globe ball was pretty sweet but was an international release.  Supposedly it was coming to the US but I don't think anything ever came of that.

We don't have anything currently working so it may be a while.  I know its something that we are thinking about....any suggestions as to what we could put into a clear ball???? we are looking for something new!

How about a Roto Grip star?  That would look pretty sweet spinning down the lane.

Cool looking non-clear spareballs work too.  Alot of my customers back down from a $130 spareball, although we did sell about 50-60 spare tires when they were out.

Shiny black solid with neon yellow Roto Logos everywhere, King of them all, www.Rotogrip.com, would be sweet.

Then maybe some Neon derivatives.  I really would love to see a solid Sour Green Apple colored plastic.  Candy Apple Red, Joker Purple (like the shooter XL), Fire Engine Red Solid.   Bright solid colors with a ton of polish look great on the shelf.

I would also prefer a non-clear spare ball because I am cheap

With the clear stuff, I like stuff that looks cool while it is spinning as opposed to another skull or head put in the ball.  The tire was pretty cool in that aspect.

The reason I was thinking Roto Star is because you could have this sweet looking 3D red star and depending on how you threw it it could look like a saw blade or a Krull glaive-ish type thing (sweet I finally mentioned Krull on BR.com).  It could also look like a ninja star for those who haven't seen Krull

Not to mention the branding of using the star as a cool looking object and company logo.  Would this sell?  I don't know.

Wasn't 300 global doing one of these also?

Along this line a plastic ball with the exact markings and coloration as a Battle would be sweet!  Just imagine how much it would get in the heads of your competition if you pulled it out on a dry lane just to pick up a 10 pin  They would go nuts trying to figure that out.
