300 OOB with Horizon Pearl
« on: March 04, 2007, 09:01:07 PM »
I posted another topic last week about possible layouts for this ball.  I finally got a chance to throw it yesterday morning in practice.  I started out with my Widow to get loose.  After the first game I started with the Horizon and threw the first 19 until a pocket 7-10 ended my string.  I don't care about the meaningless 300, but this ball is definitely impressive.  There seemed to be a fair amount of oil on the lanes, but it offered just enough midlane read as to not come in behind the headpin.  The hit was extremely impressive...I even managed to trip a couple 4 pins which I never do.  It was also not jumpy on the backend, but still strong.  With only 2 games on it it's still too early to get a real good read on it, but it's certainly looking like a keeper.

Thanks MI.  I got a chance to use it in league tonight.  They put out a lot more oil than normal, so I started with the Widow again to burn a line.  After I switched to the Horizon, I noticed that it was reading earlier than I liked.  I took it into the shop and discussed a weight hole.  After a solid 10 pin in the 2nd, I went off the sheet with it for a 279 and 708 series.  The hit on the ball is phenomenal...might be even better than my Epic.

Good bowling, again.  Sounds like this ball matches up to you extremely well.  I've always had better results with mid-priced balls than top line ones, it seems.  I might have to keep an eye out for this one.
