Anybody else throwing the Epic?
« on: September 28, 2005, 01:46:06 AM »
Hello all, I drilled up one of these we had in our shop because I am redoing my arsenal and finally got to throw it on a fresh shot last night for the first time. This ball is tremendous as long is the is oil in the front. Got to use it for 2 games before having to put it up because heads were gone. I was just curious if very many other people out there are throwing this ball and what they thought of it. Doesn't seem to be allot of talk about it.

I changed my span and pitches over the summer so instead of plugging my other stuff I decided to start from scratch. I was replacing a Dynothane AU79. Wanted a good solid reactive for heavier mediums with some carrydown. As far as comparision wise they are drilled different the AU was drilled about 5x3 I believe while the Epic was 4 1/2x 4 1/2(using the cg not the mb). The MB ended up just a hair right and on the bottom side of the thumb. I left the Epic in OOB condition and had 800grit finish on the AU so surfaces were similar. For me the Epic is definetely the stronger of the two balls. It gives me a slightly earlier read in the mids and more continuation on the backend. The hit of both balls is similar but the Epic seems to be more explosive in the pocket with more messengers. Overall stronger for me.Fits what I wanted it for very well. I was 3 boards further left with the Epic with my feet and 2 with my mark than with the AU79. It is a great ball I will be reccomending it in the shop now that I have thrown it. Hope this helps.

I've had one for a bit more than a month now.  It's pretty much the only ball I throw.  It is perfect for a heavier medium shot.  Reads the mids nicely, and has a hard but not snappy move at the breakpoint.  An odd thing I have noticed about it is that it doesn't seem to hit extremely hard, but it carries everything...does that even make sense?  My scores have gone up tremendously since getting the Epic and 5.0.  Actually, it might be the best ball I've ever owned.
