Title: Any staffers tried the Outcry yet
Post by: amyers2002 on August 10, 2014, 06:25:44 PM
I know it's not released yet but I wondered if anyone has tried out the Outcry yet? I am thinking of getting one for my daughter but I wouldn't mind seeing a few reviews. I've seen reviews of the other upcoming Rotogrip balls but nothing on this one

I feel like the Outcry will be a really good ball. With the purpose behind it and seeing how it rolled in the one video, it seems like a ball that will truly fit between the Rumble and UpRoar.
Not quite as sensitive to oil as the pearl on the UpRoar but not as rolly as the Rumble

I've seen a lot on the Outcry, it seems to be one of those "can't miss" balls, meaning it's going to be one of those great solid balls that's going to work well for everybody.

Sinister looks mean. Roto is stepping it up.

It has a winning formula for roto grip.

Balls at 4000 that have to polish that are pearl or hybrid:

Rogue Cell
Critical Theory
Defiant Soul

Now, Sinister
Now, Outcry

I'm banking on both being winners honestly.  The track record is good.  Stormhad a few at that finish...

Secret agent, lucid,...probably forgetting a few..

I think a worst it'll be mediocre!

these new pieces are amazing! The sinister isn't done justice as it needs more oil to really show its true intent. But the Hysteria is silky smooth and the outcry is a mid priced sleeper!

Honestly, I could see Hyper, Sinister, Hysteria, Asylum, Outcry, and Uproar being a pretty sweet arsenal.

I have an Outcry drilled pin above the middle no hole (same as a Wrecker that I use often). The Outcry is like the shape of possibly a Nomad Solid with a tad more downlane definition. For me the Outcry definitely has a clean/arc shape of some of the older pieces of a few years back (Outlaw, Nomads, Shatter w/surface) as compared to current pieces that compared to last year's pieces in that same category always seem to be more angular/snappy and stronger overall.

The Outcry has a nice ratio of push/midlane read and continuation. It is not as sideways as a Wrecker downlane, reads more up front and digs harder at the mids.
In conclusion it feels like a great fit for that product line in between an Uproar/Wrecker tandem.

No need for Hyper Cell in that lineup, Sinister is ridiculously strong.

Saw Tom Baker throwing the Outcry at the PBA50 at Treasure Island Casino. They had the Dick Weber shot out at that tournament. He didn't seem to have a very good shot with it. Very inconsistent ball to my eyes. When he switched to the Optimus, he totally controlled the shot.

In fairness, those are 2 drastically different balls. The OutCry for me, fits those middle games in a tournament. When you need to read the mids, but not overreact. It is a control piece for me. The comparison to the Nomad solid is actually a lot closer than anything else imo.

I thought the Hysteria was supposed to be very close to Nomad Solid?

OK, I have a pin up Nomad Solid, one of the worst inconsistent balls I have ever owned.  Highly polished.

I have a pin up Uproar on the same shot.....loving it!  Pocket ownership and HIT!

I keep thinking the very high diff Nomad needs surface or pin down....?

Regards,

Luckylefty
PS I could see me looking smart owning an Outcry!

FWIW when the nomad solid was out i was bowling almost exclusively on collegiate sport patterns and pretty much every nomad i saw at least had the polish taken off and was used as the fresh benchmark type ball and people were loving it

The Nomad Solid is my favorite ball of all time. I have thrown it at every surface imaginable and a ton if different patterns. Highly polished it was squirt on heavier oil. I have owned 3. And loved all three. No polish on any of them. I still have two of them I use at USBC. Most consistent balls I've ever thrown.

to me, the Hysteria is a stronger version of the Nomad series. The roll is predictable, smooth, and continuous. This sums up the Nomad series, as well as the Hysteria and OutCry. On a ths, these balls will cover a similar amount of boards but through different motions. But when the Christmas tree is not on the lanes, the rolls differ with the Hysteria being longer and honestly morevversatile. Where as the OutCry is the ball down piece due to a weaker cover core combo.

VK1970, the Hysteria would fit above the Nomad in your arsenal, and the OutCry would be right at or just below depending on layout.

Ok cpl more questions. I need to get rid of a cpl balls. The Zero is out, I like but don't love. Would it be better to keep Disturbed with Hysteria or Hysteria and Asylum? Also how does Outcry compare to Lights Out? The Light Out is also one of my all time favorites? In over all strength and oil handling how will the hysteria compare to those two at comparable surface? The polish will be coming off for me

Now that's a toughy between choosing the Disturbed or the Asylum. If you take the surface off of the Hysteria, it would be closer to the Asylum, since the Asylum is a little longer than the Disturbed. The high rg core in the Hysteria will still give it better length than the Disturbed if they were drilled similar with the same surface. I personally was not a huge fan of the Lights Out, as it was over/under on fresh and just under on carry down for me. But the OutCry has been sooner and not as angular. So it is more of a control piece. So you could go Disturbed, Hysteria with surface, OutCry. I personally was a bigger fan of the Asylum than the Disturbed. So that decesion is yours. I hope some of this helps you.

I read a review somewhere (forgot which web site) wherein the Outcry was said to be stronger than the Rumble.  Have you all found that to be the case?
I have a Roto Grip Shooting Star (pin in ring finger).  I was thinking of picking up an Outcry but now I am concerned that if it is that strong it might be too close to the Shooting Star.  Thoughts?

I'll be honest with you.  This Outcry hooks.  It's actually really similar to my Asylum if that tells you anything.  Given, it's a smidge longer, but at box finish it still grabs.  Talk about ball for the money...  The house I bowl in is notorious for low oil volume.  The heads go quickly.  I couldn't move far enough left to get this ball to the pocket. Had to switch to a IQ tour pearl with the pin in the middle finger to get to the pocket.  Had the pro-shop add some polish on top of fresh 4000 tonight to see if I can get it to go long enough (at a different center).  I bowled a few games there on the dry-ish and had a pretty good look with it.  We'll see if that translates to my normal house on Wednesday.
