Title: Any thoughts on the Dare Devil?
Post by: Zaner on November 14, 2016, 02:22:15 AM
I was wondering if anyone has thrown the Dare Devil yet, and if so what does it compare to? I want to order one but I want to make sure I will like it. Thanks!

I have a vid up on YouTube comparing it with some overseas pieces and a Deranged.

First impression... very appealing on the shelf. Fairly strong coverstock (Amped Pearl) and a moderate strengthed core.

Dare Devil is definitely above the Deranged and IQ Tour Pearl. Would be pretty close to the original Storm Optimus, but has a lower differential.

That's an interesting statement. I've always had pretty good luck with slightly lower differential balls (.030-.045ish) vs higher .05+

Remacabowl,

How does he Daredevil compare to the Hywire? Is there too much overlap in having both?

Looks like a beast of a pearl on a THS from watching my teammate throw it this week. Medium THS on synthetics. He puts a lot on it with a good amount of rotation and it has a very hard arc on the back. I would think its earlier than a Hy-Wire.

Got my Devil drilled today, and wow!
I love it. It hits hard and is very smooth.

How might this compare to a DV8 Thug Corrupt? I'm looking for something that'll allow me to play a simpler, straighter line on a THS.

So I am looking for something to ball down from when my Code Black gets too uncontrollable.  Lately, the only thing that has worked is my IQ Tour, but I want something that is more of a pearl for this move.

It looks like the DareDevil matches up well for what I am looking for.  I throw about 17-18mph with about 350rpms.  It looks like the DD is a pearl version of the IQ Tour.  Would that be a fair thought?

No, the IQ 30 is the pearl version. The Dare Devil has a stronger core and cover than the IQ Tour. I wouldn't even consider it as a step down from a Code Black, i think they fit in the same spot with slightly different motions.

Realize that the Dare Devil shares the same cover with the No Rules Pearl. A step down from the Code Black would be the IQ 30, Hyroad, Wreck-Em, Match/Match Pearl

This. These "lower" tier balls from Storm/Roto Grip are by no means weak. Going from the Code Black to one of them is a pretty natural step down in my opinion even if some of the balls are two product lines below it. The HP2 line from Roto Grip in particular is good for this. No Rules (or equivalent Storm strong asym solid) to the Wreck-It and No Rules Pearl (or equivalent Storm strong asym pearl) to the Wreck-Em are really solid progressions as the lane dries out.

SVstar nailed it pretty much.

I personally will switch to my Hy-Road Pearl to get a slightly different look from the core being the same cover. Or, the RocketShip if I need it to roll off the end a little more than the two pearls.

Thanks everybody.  I am thinking of going with the Hy-Road Pearl at this point.  The Wreck-Em/Lights out type line has never really impressed me much but I have heard great things about the Hy-Road Pearl.
