Mystic and SD-73 OH MY!!! (mini-review)
« on: March 16, 2007, 02:20:28 PM »
Hi all,
I bought both of these babies and oh my is all I can say.

SD-73
Layout:
pin above ring(about 4.5" to PAP)
CG kicked out 2 inches with a WH 2" inside my PAP

Cover Prep:
OOB

I threw the SD-73 on the Shark pattern and boy did it shine.  I started out playing up 10 and the ball read like no tommorow. I got a great hard turn off the dry and a hard finish through the deck. I like this because although it was flaring a lot it never ran out of energy, so there weren't many ringing 10's like I got from my SAGA(at 1000-grit, layout in my profile) from the ball rolling out. While going up the boards I stayed up the back of the ball and I got about 5-6 inches of flare. Then I jumped way inside to about 32(kept it real tight) and got all around it and oh BOY!!! it hit the dry stood up and kept on going, it gave me about 7 inches getting a round it. This is a great ball for a shot that wants to carrydown, its gonna give you that extra pop on the breakpoint to make sure you carry those corners.

Mystic
Layout:
Pin under bridge(about 5" from PAP) Cg kicked out about 1/4 inch. No WH

Cover Prep:
OOB

Well lemme say this, if you look at this ball and think of the RSP. DON'T!!! This ball ain't nothing like it. again I threw this on the shark.  I started off up 10 and when this ball sees dry...Look out!! It stood up so quick and just kept turning.  I got about 4 inches of flare from the Mystic which suprised me from the pin to PAP distance.  With the Mystic I got a much sharper entry into the pocket which gave me the ability to swing the ball a tad and not sacrifice carry. I didn't get a chance to jump inside with the Mystic but I will next week and update you guys.

So overall, buy them both if you haven't already.  I will put money on it that the Mystic will be the ball of the year.  You get the look of many companys high end that you get in RG's mid-price line. I am going to make sure I get 2 more Sd's before they discontinue them again, but this time for good.  Both of these balls definately have found a place in my bag.

Nah, no new stuff for me until I start throwing the ball better. Gotta give myself something to shoot for!  I have plenty of options as of right now lol.

I'm extremely impressed with the SD-73 so far. The strong revving core with the Sure Grip cover make for one deadly combination. I'm currently averaging over 253 in my past 4 sets with only the SD.

I concure with the SD, drilled mine 4 x 4 pin up, seen nothing like it, so strong almost to strong for a trad house shot. Created more area than any ball I've thrown.

Horizon Solid almost as strong with the same layout, 3 boards weaker than the 73.

Drilled a Mystic Sat. but have not had the chance to throw it yet, Men's Travel league in town yesterday, by the time they left there was no oil left so I put it in the locker for a debut tonight.

I must say so far I have been suprised with the strengths of the covers, will detail more after I throw a few more games with them and post reviews, thanks to Tyler Jensen and Roger back in Utah for making a home for me within their family !!!!

Since joining Roto/Storms staff I have been nothing but impressed with the
products I have drilled for myself.   From the Mystic, to the Odyssey, to
the Domination, SpitFire, etc... This Mystic will be a benchmark ball for me
for a while to come.   Keep the good products coming guys!

Thanks,
Joe
