Bought the Hot Cell and drilled it
« on: June 12, 2018, 10:53:13 PM »
They sent me one with a short pin; 1 1/4Ē so I drilled it pin down.

So itís pin under the ring finger and mass bias 2 5/8Ē from the centerline. My PSO looked at it and said itís very strong. On the scale itís 1 oz of side weight so itís legal.

I wanted a long pin around 3 1/2Ē for pin up but I figured maybe somebody knew better and gave me the short pin. Rolled a game with it, really hooked hard but was smooth.

So I asked around about suggested layouts for an asymmetric Urethane and didnít get anything unique, so I went with my plan of making it stronger. Will be interesting giving it a try on a short pattern.

One of the reasons I went so strong was when I looked at most of the Shadow Ops, they were even stronger. The demo Shadow Op was stacked with the same short pin.
Taking the winter season off. But still subbing for friends and the sport shot league.

Enjoy it.  Probably a good idea to go strong since you already have your Tank Rampage.  Good luck and it may well save your bacon on some tough conditions.

Thanks!

Will let you know if it saves my bacon. Could of used it last Sat in tournament, but I didn't have the IT glued in and the fingers drilled. Finished it after the tournament. I didn't think I would need it, boy was I wrong.

Right now I'm scratching my head on why I drilled it so strong, but may soon be reminded after some testing over the next month. I went to the RotoGrip site and compared it to the Hyper Fused and they were very close to each other. I actually have the Hot Cell just a tad stronger than my HCF but pin down.

Difference being HCF gets lane shine it just gets more shape, Hot Cell gets lane shine it gets significantly weaker.  Will need to keep that ball wiped off and I generally hit all my urethane with maroon scotch brite by hand after every few sessions just to prevent lane shine (Captain Obvious I know).  Might find you were glad to go leverage in the end after putting some games on it or if you use it for a long block.  As many much more skilled bowlers on here than me say easy to box yourself in with urethane.

Yeah was tired of deleting all my way too voluminous silly posts and being that guy.  Still that guy but in fewer posts now.  Avoiding a lot of the equipment boards entirely when comes to talking about brands, balls, etc.  Only got on this one because saw who OP was :).  Still enjoy your new piece.  Been picking up old mostly NIB Visionary stuff lately myself as afraid they are not long for this world.  Hard to stop lol.
