ancestor Rotos never die, they just hit harder!
« on: April 04, 2015, 06:45:54 AM »
Rising Star --After many games, this ball amazes me. After struggling last nite in game 1 with a 172, I decided to pull out my trustworthy (go to ) Rising Star in the 10 th frame just to see. That was smart, then went 268 - 235.  This ball still HITS and rolls so good --and kicking the 10 out, most of the time. It won't be retired anytime soon. What is your go to ball when all else is failing?

Pulled out my original theory for a 748 set.  I think it wants back in the rotation.

Some friend lol. I don't have an old reliable ball, but I occasionally throw my new Pitch Black when I am lost or need damage control on ugly conditions.

I love seeing peoples faces when I pull out stuff like a second dimension, or a rogue cell, or a critical theory, or an invasion.  8)

Man! O Man! I'd love to bowl where you bowl, Bill. I never get to use those pieces you just listed. Most of mine just sit idly on my racks, waiting for the time when some oil volume ever comes back!

My favorite Go-To Rotos were the Mystic and the Horizon Solid. Unfortunately both of them cracked, and I haven't been able to find replacements with that same ball motion.

Just shot a 735 tonight (my highest league series) and blew a 300 for a 288 game. All of this with a beast of an Infinite Theory. Since getting an Outcry and the Infinite Theory in January, I have averaged 207. Before that I was at 183, although part of that improvement is due to getting a new span correct. These two balls have been straight money, can't wait for next season!

Well the old good stuff gets to come out on synthetics, and the guy who dresses the lanes throws it like 15 mph ...so they actually get oil on the lanes haha

Threads like this remind me of just how long I have been away from the game...I see balls being mentioned that I have never heard of, and Roto was ALL I threw for many years.  Sort of makes me wonder what some would think if I pulled out the Pearl Assault or even a Retro Blue, not to mention the old Gold Grenade.

michelle I have a Roto Blue. It is......hands down.....the best ball that I own for torched lanes. I can move in and actually play on top of the torched track area that I usually find at a lot of tournaments, and this ball will NOT over react at all. It is smooth as silk, continuous, and makes me look like I'm just bowling on a normal THS. The problem is, I only have one. But at least I do have it as a great weapon in my arsenal.
