Title: cell cracked what do i do?
Post by: deadeye113 on May 13, 2009, 08:25:56 AM
i took a video of the damage. its pretty severe not possible to repair i would think. and as the title suggests im not quite sure what i should do. and before someone posts it was kept at room temperature in my well....room; not it was not left in the car, garage, shed or basement. and im fairly certain it is not because of me.

nope i wouldnt try to repair that. That reminds me of when they had the the problems with the paradigm and the eox cover. Send them the picture they might replace it whe mine cracked they were very good about it and didnt give me a hassle. good luck to you.

Did you ever give it a hot water bath or any other heat related oil extraction treatment?

FWIW - Take it to the proshop that you purchased it at if you can.  Most will do their best to get a replacement for you.

If you purchased it online though, good luck getting anywhere with that.  Saving $20 isn't enough for me to buy equipment online, especially when you get the run around when trying to return balls that are still under warranty.

Return it to the pro shop you purchased it from. If it was from my shop I would drill a new one on the spot and deal with dist/company my self.
Good luck if it was a internet ball.

With that type of damage no proshop will ever put time to fix that. Sorry to say that bro only suggestion is to buy another one  exact pin placement and have it drilled the same. if you buy another one which different pin placement u might not get the exact reaction with the one you have now. SO get another one and have the same pin placement.

I know someone his spare ball was just so badly scrap from the back when it came out it made that scrape like yours my friend in the proshop said its too much work to my other friend ended up buying another spare ball. good luck to you. which ever decision you make.

like my original post i figured it was impossible to fix. i did get it from my pro shop but its a 50 min drive so if it was going to be a waste to drive then i wasn't going to bother. my pro shop tech is very good at getting results for his customers so i will take it to him but im not going to do much more than that. i already have a decent set of equipment and i wasn't using it much anyway so i will let it go after that. thanks for the prompt comments. oh and as i said before all my gear is very well taken care of so no it was not left in the car.

yikes, now thats a crack!

If for whatever reason you're not able to get a replacement from Roto-Grip, try and get that core out and make your own ball, lol.

I had a customer bring in a cell pearl that was cracked the same way, i called Roto-Grip told them what had happened, they had me send the ball back to them and they called my distributor and had them send me a new one.

Roger is pretty good about help case to case rather than just their random rules. Either way, there is no harm in talking to him. He is a great guy. He has even been willing to help you layout a ball to fit your arsenal. Roto is raising the bar in service along with their balls.

I have kept my gear in my car for years and never had an issue with heat.
I think it is destined to crack due to a flaw in the ball. I have had 2 balls crack. My wife's Pioneer, which sat in the proshop for a month trying to sell it(it also looked just like the one in the vid), and my Epic Battle, which had been misdrilled at the ring finger and the driller tried to slug the hole and redrill.

deadeye,

Definitely looks like a defective product.  Hopefully if you have a good pro shop operator he will replace the ball for you immediately and get credit for it through his distributor.  That is definitely the fastest way.  Don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything.

In the future try to make sure your driller keeps the Pin 1" minimum from the Pin.

Thanks,
