Cell - first impressions
« on: March 27, 2008, 01:02:59 AM »
Picked up my cell last night. Doubt we'll see me putting it down anytime soon.
I enjoy it's recovery, its extremely forgiving off the dry. Out of box it's stronger than my gp2 with a similar drilling.

Just wish I had picked up one sooner in the season.

I just got my Cell tonight and WOW!  I got to my league about 30 minutes early tonight so that I could pick it up from the shop and throw a game with it before league started.  Unfortunately, he was a little behind, so, I practiced with my Bite.  The Cell was finished right at the end of practice.  My first throw with it was the first ball of scoring.  I played the same spot and line that I was playing with my Bite.  Oops!  My first shot hooked all the way over to the 2-4!  The Cell was outhooking my Bite by about 10 boards!  I had to adjust to that very quickly!  The second thing that I noticed is the carry I was getting with the Cell vs. the Bite!  I usually leave a lot of 7's and 10's with my Bite (I just need more practice!).  Not with the Cell!  The carry was much better!  I'm averaging 190 this season with my Bite.  Tonight, I shot 224-239 (I'm in an adult-junior league with my 7-year old son...we only bowl 2 games)!  My first 2 games with a brand new ball that I have never thrown from a company that I have never thrown are my 2nd and 4th highest games this season (if you read my profile, you'll see I've only been back into bowling for a couple of months now after a 13 year layoff)!  When I bought my Bite, it was a toss-up between it and the Cell.  An "expert" at the shop (different shop than I use now) recommended the Bite over the Cell by watching me bowl 2 frames with a T-Road Pearl.  Ignorance on my part, but, I believed him as he was the "expert".  I wish I would have gone the other way and bought the Cell instead!  Don't get me wrong, I like my Bite.  It is a good ball.  The Cell just seems to match up to me better!  I don't think I'll be pulling my Bite out of the bag anytime soon!  The Cell is a great ball and I wish I would have purchased it sooner!  Nice job Roto Grip!
