Title: CELL hotwater bath...OOPS
Post by: Skizriz on April 17, 2008, 07:00:53 AM
I decided to give the Cell a bath last night, it hasn't had one since I got it. Got a ton of oil out, and kept getting more as I re-freshened the water, and wiped the oil off of the ball.
After about 2hrs, I finally pulled it out for good. After pulling it, I wiped it down good with a towel.

Then I noticed the logo....

Tried to clean it up with some cleaner, but that made it worse.

So I set it down to dry, and then scuffed it off with a Scotchbrite pad. Cleaned up fairly easy, and is as good as new, except for a little less paint in the logos.
Maybe I'll refill the logos with a custom color,Red White and Blue?.

Wow, i've never seen a logo come off like that, I hope mine doesn't do that but if it does its just an excuse as you said to custom color the logo like I have with many other of my balls that had logo issues.

How hot was the water you bathed it in?  This is the first I've seen that!

I had glitter come out of my Shift logo.  At first I thought it was the particle in the pearl/particle ball, LOL!!

Maybe two hours in hot water was the culprit?

no.. had the same thing with Hammer and Ebonite balls... the paint simply gets soft.. and in this case the towel simply pulls the paint that has soaked up some water and got even softer... out.(as well as I experienced it with a BigONE!)

the ball will work... so it is just.... paint

btw:

I kept the ball not longer than 20min in the water...

I had never seen it before either. Just hot tap water..

No harm done, just softened the paint and smeared it. Just wanted to save somebody else the hassle of trying to clean it while soft, and making a mess like I did.

Wait until it dries again, and it cleans right up with a scuff pad.

It still hits like a truck..............

Pimp your Cell!

It's normal house paint they use, it's not completely water soluble but 2 hrs in hot water would make anything disolve or soften up.
