Cell Pearl----Anyone have more info/reviews
« on: September 14, 2008, 11:40:42 PM »
I know the ball is not out to the public yet, but staffers and many of the elite shops have them already.  Any reviews or comments on this ball?  What does it compare to in Storm's line or another ball line that is not from Roto?  I have not thrown much Roto stuff but the Cell, and want to see how different this ball is from the original.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I drilled mine and Grants up this week, with the intention of using them in a Ranking Tournament at the weekend... along with our new Grand Illusions also... but the conditions were a bit weird, and both of us found the balls to be a little strong in practice so set them aside...

I actually went on to use the Neptune all tournament, which i have laid out with a 1.5" pin, and rolls great... Ended up averaging 218.25 for the win

I have seen Wes throw his a couple of times and its just what the doctor ordered for him. The regular Cell was just too strong for most of the house conditions he was throwing on this summer. I am sure the tour will be alot different and he will get the chance to use them both quite a bit..

The Cell Pearl looked like it carried just as well or better then the regular Cell and its also a great looking ball..

We was very impressed with the ball, thats for sure..

I have one on order..

It has the exact same core as the original cell.

Is it an angular ball (skid-snap) or is it more arc-like in its shape?

I drilled mine 5x3, pin below the fingers.  To me this ball gets down the lane well and has a defined, but controlled move off the spot.  I've actually taken mine from 1500 polish box to 4000 & polish at this point, as it was so strong initially.  More to follow as I throw it more.

Thanks for the info.  Can anyone compare it to another ball i.e. does it have the length and backend motion of a Rapid Fire Pearl?  Is it more even in the back? Just am really leaning towards drilling a Rapid Fire Pearl or the Cell Pearl just don't know which one yet and want some comparisons.  Thanks.

Well I threw the Cell Pearl for a few shots tonight, along with the Grand Illusion.  Both were strong.  Very strong!

The lanes were medium to dry, and a pretty rubbishy shot.  I ended up, as seems to be usual for me now, using my 1.5" pin neptune, however I did have a few lashes with my two new balls.

The Cell Pearl is laid out with a high 4.5" pin, with the MB in the strong position, and a weight hole around my axis.  The ball seemed strong in the midlane, which i expected with this drilling, and very strong on the back end.  The ball was hooking so much on these lanes that it seemed to be rolling out, so the reaction was rather eratic, but the few shots where i hit the pocket, it decimated the pins.  I really wish there had been more oil to throw this a little more, and i expect it to be VERY good on longer and heavier patterns!
