Cell vs. Grand Illusion

To the many Roto Grip fans out there, let me ask a question.

Currently I have 2 Cells, one drilled very strong (Pin under, about 25 deg), and taken down to 500 Abralon. Used this to start team at Nationals, for some PBA regionals on the heavier patterns. The second one is drilled pin up, about 5" from PAP, OOB finish and gives me a nice step down from the first Cell. My question is would the Grand Illusion fit under this second Cell or would it be too much of an overlap? I would look to drill it pretty medium, 4-4.5 pin-to-pap, pin even or slightly up, maybe a 75 or 80 degree angle. I don't want to put a longer drill on it with my ball speed as I am afraid it would go too long then. Thanks to all for your help.

The video will be on Scorpion and a House Shot, i always make sure the conditions im filming on are stated in the videos.

I filmed the Scorpion portion last night and i must say these 3 balls complement eachother VERY well.  The illusion is definetly the most angular of the 3, very clean through the front with a powerful and angular move in the back.

The cell, as always forced me to get very deep on the lane to give it enough room to make its move...this ball never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many boards i have to cover this thing still rolls up and hits.  Very forgiving down lane as always.

The Grand illusion seems to have taken the best from both balls...the Backend Strength of an Illusion with the Forgiveness and Predictability of a Cell.  I was about 5 boards right with my GI from my cell and i was about 4 boards farther right with the Illusion...good seperation and difference of motions between the 3 making it very easy to own all 3.

I am really looking forward to throwing the Grand Illusion on a house shot...95% of the time my cell is way too much for the house shot and i really think this grand illusion is going to give me a GREAT look

Britton,

I hate to make life tough on you, but you might want to also include a comparison of the stock Grand Illusion (2000 grit Abralon polished) to Cell, with polish over its stock 2000 grit Abralon matte finish.

OR,
you could compare the Cell to the Grand Illusion with the polish removed by a 2000 grit Abralon pad. So both finishes are the same.

Either one would tell us how strong their relative coverstocks were.

Heh, i would love to see the cell at 500 abralon + polish vs the GI OOB.

Even more so, Roto-Grip uses a different resin supplier than Storm does. So their covers are not just renamed Storm resins, like the former Columbia and Track relationship. They are actually completely different.

Saw Grand Illusion in action last night.  It's amazing how close that ball rolls to the motion of a polished Cell rather than an Illusion with surface.  

Ignore everything you may understand about numbers and coverstock for a second and take the ball's design for what it's worth.  It looks like it bridges the gap between the Cell and everything else perfectly and gives a very different and distinguished motion than the original Illusion.

They are now the same supplier for their mid and high end stuff.  I cannot vouch for the Tropicals and Planets.
