Title: Critical - Thoughts?
Post by: Snakster on February 23, 2018, 07:27:27 AM
The NNB Critical that has been sitting in my local shop received another price drop, so I decided to grab it.  What was the general consensus on this ball?  It always intrigued me which is why I kept watching it.

Not as good as the critical theory was. But it's a STRONG BALL.  Mine really cuts through oil,  my buddy just punched his second one. It's just a strong Hybrid...if that's what u need, get it.

What was wrong with it? I thought it would be a good piece. Kinda hard to ignore them since I miss the Lock.

Well that certainly could fit.  I do like hybrids which is why I was eyeballing it in the first place.  Any comps to it?

Great under the radar ball. Strong and smooth. Recommend for sure.

Mine was real good until the coverstock needed a touch-up. After that, I could NEVER get it to react well again.

The ball does well on anything from medium light to medium heavy conditions. Good length and strong motion down lane - but never too much.

Mind needed friction to carry well.

Well the Critical theory is a ball worth $300+ now nib, critical is hovering around retaileven though being discontinued for nearly 6-12 months now...

One strikes a ton more I can tell u that!

Honestly, I doubt the Critical Theory would bring anywhere near $300 at this time. The market for discontinued balls has taken a serious dive in the past year.

I think a seller would be lucky to get $200 shipped for a NIB 15# CT with good specs.

Of course, you might get lucky and find one of the last remaining idiots--er--nostalgic bowlers with money.  ;D

Funny you mention that, but my Critical was the EXACT SAME.  It was really strong out of the box and tamed down quite a bit after a few games.

I have my own personal ball oven and spinner, etc.  When it came time to touch up the surface the ball was never the same.  I tried baking the oil out and doing a full resurface from low grit all the way back to stock surface.  For whatever reason, the ball was never the same.  It went from one of the stronger balls in my arsenal down to almost nothing.

My original Crux did the same thing to me.  None of the other balls that I've owned ever had that issue, though.  Weird.

I resurfaced my critical after the same issue, and left it at 2000 grit...now it's too strong. I'm thinking of just polishing it as I really liked my infinite from years ago...

That's crazy that I'm not the only one with this issue! I wound up donating mine because every grit and every grit with polish, never worked right. I miss the shape though - it was so nice in the beginning.
