Title: Delutz and his ball choices.
Post by: HamPster on November 11, 2003, 10:13:28 AM
I realized something the other day.  I have NEVER seen Tommy throw anything other than the Silver Streaks, the Retro Blue, and in KC he threw the Rush a couple times.  It's like the Fuels don't even exist.  Anyone have any insight on this?

The weekly signature series, by Hamster.

I was bowling one of the higher average scratch bowlers in league a month or so ago who bowls with average speed and maybe 5 revs from 1st arrow.  On one shot, he left a 9 pin.  Walking back, he frowned and said, "Nobody that throws a fag ball should leave that pin."

Some cores just don't match up for certain styles.

I knew a Track Staffer.

He didn't seem to really jell with the the new high tech core in the Freak, Freak out, Phenom, Mutant, etc. but he jelled really well with the Heat, HEat 2, EZ money, all the symmetrical cores.

Maybe the Fuels don't rev up quick enough for Tommy D.

I know at Brunswick every time I used the core in the Impact Zone, Pro Zone Violet, and Battle Zone bullet line(same core).  If I used the
Command Zone Arc core it was hit or miss.

Tommy uses all of them, matter of fact just after the fuel was released he used one on a telecast. He didn't match up well and got beat but he used it. Tour conditions don't always need mega-differential stuff to perform well on. Think of his style too. He has med-speed, high axis rotation and a damn fair amount of RPM. High differential stuff would probably change direction too dramatically. The Rush is a low RG ball so it would be a good baseline ball. Now last year at Albany he could have used a stronger solid ball on the telecast. Wish the Rush was out then for him.

I agree with LHT, ...with Tommy's revs, the Fuel can just be way too strong on most patterns......I've seen him use it in practice for the Detroit Open last year crossing 25 with it.....just too much for Tommy's game..you'll need a ton of oil for that ball and Tommy's release.  Just my .02
