wrecker breaking WAY to early...help?
« on: November 30, 2013, 10:23:04 PM »
so yeah for some reason i cant seem to ever get my wrecker down the lane unless i completely throw it as hard as humanly possible...it always breaks and comes right across the deck for Brooklyn...and im not talking barely either...usually 2-3 feet in front of the pins no matter what i try...so any suggestions?

thanks

Have you put an extender polish on it?
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Charlest explains this best but extender polishes have slip agents in them to help it get down lane...

Cleaning it on a spinner and adding step 2 polish usually tames any ball down for me..

have you tried playing the ball in the 3rd 4th 5th arrow neighborhood where typically there is a ton of extra oil?

I'd ask first, "how deep are you playing?"
The wrecker normally allows (sometimes even forces) many people to play fairly deep on lighter house patterns. 4th arrow is not unusual. If you still can't get it through the heads if you're already playing deep, then the first thing I would suggest is to use a milder ball or putting as fine a surface on the ball as possible (sanding with 1000, 2000, then 4000 grit pads and then use a strong abrasive polish, like Storm's Xtra Shine).

I wouldn't suggest using a slip agent (some extender polishes does not have a slip agent in them; just a stronger abrasive), unless you have no milder ball AND are pretty sure this is going to be the condition from here on out.

If all that is true, some good slip agent polishes are Valentino's UFO, Neo-Tac's Control-It, and Powerhouse's Delayed Reaction. Be aware that slip agents work by reducing the oil absorbing ability of the resin coverstock, as well as putting a high gloss polish on the ball. UFO's slip agent is organic and is worn off over the course of about 25 games. It can be removed by means of mild abrasive like 2000 grit or 4000 grit pad. The slip agent in the other two is more permanent, and can be removed by means of a thorough sanding, like 500 or 1000 grit pads.

thanks for all the info...just a question though...you say go to a milder ball but i have a defiant edge that hits and carry's like a truck...venom toxin goes fine...iq tour pearl goes fine...hyroad pearl goes fine...those would all be a lot more ball then the wrecker correct?

Those, except for the Hy-Road Pearl and maybe the Toxin, should all be earlier and handle more oil than the Wrecker. The Toxin and the HRP should, with a similar drilling and the stock surface, get similar (not identical) length. You should, in general, be able to use the Wrecker on a little less oil than those two, but not a whole lot less. The Wrecker is deceptively strong and flippy.

I also have a wrecker and mine was to over/under, so I stripped the factory polish off like I always do and put a smoother grit down then repolish and now it rolls smoother

What type of lay-out do you have on these? Is the Wrecker similar to the other balls that you're able to use? Just my $.02, Bruce

Don't know your rev rate or regular ball speed, but there are a couple of ways to go at this:

1. Change surface......hit it with a 500 or so, pad then 4000, and add just a bit of polish to smooth out reaction and not re-drill, dependent on your regular ball speed

2. Re-drill with a higher pin, at least two inches higher min.than what you have now
3. Change your release and come up the back of the ball as is.

Just my two cents.
