Title: Duo or Zen ?
Post by: tloy on August 27, 2023, 03:56:04 PM
Looking at a ball to compliment the Summit. I have a Zen drilled 50 x 3.5 x40. Would the Duo be stronger than the Zen with the Microtrax cover? Is there room for both in the bag? I have the Exotic Gem and love the cover. Trying to avoid too much overlap in the bag. BTM had them very close but that was 15lb and I use 16. Core #s are different. Thank you

I have both a Summit and Zen, definitely compliments to each other for me, Zen is about 4-5 boards weaker and smoother with the same layout.

Zen vs Duo is interesting.
To me, they fit in the same spot but do things slightly different.

Microtrax cover on Duo is a little stronger than the Zen's cover. (Zen also has Nano, most people aren't aware but Schlem has mentioned it multiple times. Gold Label is no Nano).
The Zen core is slightly stronger than the Duo core.

Since I've drilled my Summit, I've actually rarely thrown my Zen because of how versatile the Summit is. Lately when I've balled down from the Summit, I've gone straight to my X-2 if I need length and shape or my Tour DynamX if I need control.

Thank you. I hope they use this core combo that is on the Summit in future releases. I Love this ball and is Money on most shots.. Was thinking a second Summit drilled differently as well :)

If you're still looking for a ball in this range I highly recommend the Zen Gold Label. It was between that or the Duo for me and I have no regrets whatsoever. It's just so clean yet not super snappy off the spot. It's definitely strong, don't get me wrong there, but if you want to avoid too much overlap I think that's the one to go with in a bag that has the Exotic Gem and Summit.
