I need some input from you Roto fanatics about the rush. I have read most of the reviews, but really don't know how much faith to put in them. I'd like to know about the conditions this ball would favor. Medium/medium dry, dry, does it squirt in oil, how does it handle carrydown, best drilling for strong backend move but not skid/flip. Does the ball hit & carry good & how would a 14lb ball perform as far as carry on medium THS. Any other info you could supply. Also, would this ball be a good addition considering other available options. Thanks in advance for any input.

tag-teaming Ryan's comments......

It's a strong but smooth ball.  I had mine 4x3 with a weight hole just below and in from my pap.  This ball gets into a roll well, nice midlane read and a strong but VERY predictable move (continuous) thru the pins.

It's basically a strong control ball.

It can handle medium and medium heavy, especially if it's fresh.  Mine didn't seam to like carry down much, and if I encountered it, I 'could' square up a bit,...but usually would change to something w/ some teeth.

For me, I always kept this ball at about 800 scuffed...when it sheened up, it had the 'potential' to skate too much.  I would hit it with a wet grey scotch brite after each session (light pressure) when I cleaned it and it performed great like this.

I would consider it a great FIRST BALL out of your bag ball.....because of it's smoothness and lane reading (low rg).

Also, a great tournament ball!  I could easily see having 2 of these, drilling one with more flare, and one with less........say,....6-800 scuffed at 4x3, then
another at 1200 smooth at say 2.5 x 5 (label) or go 2.5 x 2.5 stacked....

If you can get one for a good price NAB it...you will NOT be dissapointed...HOWEVER....if you need it to get more length, DO NOT polish is,...I'd just put a smoother finish on it....1200, 1500, 2000, etc....but don't use polish (my experience,...and quite a few others too)

Good luck!

FWIW, believe it or not,
I have one, I have a 5.5"x5" drilling, no weight hole, pin just above the center of the bridge. I had to put a high gloss polish on it to get it to handle medium oil, maybe slightly lighter, but it won't handle medium-light oil.

The ball has a very strong roll characteristic. Even with the above drilling and high gloss polish I can't get it to flip,  in any way, shape or form.

In box surface, and normal drilling (3 - 4.5" pin) it should still be able to handle medium to true medium heavy oil with no problems. This is one of those balls that always seems to hit hard. If this ball is not hitting, then you're using it on too little or too much oil. Those with slower ball speeds may be able to use it on heavy oil.

piling on!!!!

A strong control ball is the best definition.  I agree with Ryan / Jeff the cover is best without polish. Anything from scuffed to oil soak will work well.

Rush is a great tournament ball especially when the lanes get spotty.  You know you can get it to the spot and not have to worry about the finish.

I have had 2 to date and I have one blank in the basement just in case.

OK! I thank you all for the great replies. I believe combined you answered all of my questions. I like the solid coverstock & was intrigued by the looks of the weight block. I am considering dropping to 14 pound equipment again & want to try something reasonably priced that I could get some good feed back on. Thanks again for your opinions on this ball.
