Epic Odyssey and Neptune
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:59:26 AM »
Just perusing the Roto Grip Ball Chart online to see where the new SD-73 Classic fits in...

Seems to me that Roto has two new balls coming out:

Epic Odyssey -- Epic Replacement

Neptune -- Mercury Replacement

Any info on the Odyssey???  I could be quite interested!

Thanks, Hank, as always, your a standup guy.  Wish other companies were half as good with their communication as Roto Grip.  You run a great Company.
Appreciate you taking the time to post to the board on this topic. (Very Informative)

Love the concepts for both the Planet Neptune and Epic Odyssey.
(they are high up on my hit/want buying list)

I did have one question.  The Odyssey, is it going to be a pearl, particle pearl or a solid coverstock? Didn't see you mention it in the post, if you did, sorry I didn't catch it.  I seem to read in your words that you are inferring solid coverstock like the original Epic, but you did mention in between the Battle (particle) and  Saga (1 part solid - 2 parts pearl mixture) - which might mean particle pearl? But I do see the re-release SD-73 in the high performance solid cover slot.  BTW, nice move going to abralon; I approve.

Very happy owner of the Oracle Vision, Planet Venus, with the highly anticipated Epic Saga in route.

thanks again; keep up the grand work! Roto Grip is truely - King of them all!

The Odyssey sounds incredible.  I recenlty drilled up a Saga which is my first Roto Grip ball.  The Saga is just MONEY.  I haven't been this impressed with a ball in a long time.  So now I am really anxious to drill up other Roto's.  Hank is there any chance of a hybrid cover on a symmetrical core in the future?

The Epic Odyssey will in fact be a solid reactive coverstock.  We will be using Ultimate Vision Solid  Reactive for this ball.

As for making a hybrid symmetrical ball, I am always up for any suggestions that the bowlers may have.  I try to listen to what the bowlers want, so
I will take a look at it for the next symmetrical release in March.  Thanks again for the input.

I currently have the Battle Vision and RSX for my med-heavy patterns sounds like the Odyssey would be a nice fit in that line up.  I will likely pick one up before I go to the USBC

I'd like to see the ultimate vision particle on the horizon coverstock.

basically replace the rsp. which cover's was weaker than Ultimate vision.

This is terrible news.  I recently picked up my 2nd Epic, and now you're gonna release a ball with the same wonderful cover and a bit stronger core!  Sounds like a gem.  I've always wondered why the original Epic didn't get a lot of love.  The Battle sure did.

You guys are killing me!  I just got a new Epic Battle to go along with the Epic, Oracle Vision, and Mercury that make up my current lineup and now there are two new toys to drool over  Seriously though, I like the sound of both of these new balls.  My Epic has been my workhorse and has more games on it than I can count (definitely in the hundreds!) and is just about ready to be retired and my Oracle Vision doesn't really fit my style that well so it may be moved along soon.  I was thinking about buying another Epic to replace my old one but the new Odyssey sounds like it might be better for me.  I've also been wanting something that goes a little farther than my Mercury yet still packs a punch at the pins for when the lanes are drying out so the Neptune sounds like it might fit the bill.  Guess I'm going to have to start saving some money!

So I'm guessing the release in March will be the RSP replacement.  I personally wanna see an orange and black color scheme, kinda like the Fuel. And call it Horizon Pearlticle. for pearl particle. haha. man, I'm looking too much into the future.
