Epic Saga cover prep ideas ?
« on: December 12, 2006, 08:19:37 PM »
I just got the thumb redone on my second Saga and I was looking at using it tonight in league. When I was throwing it before, the ball really didn't read the mids all that much it just kinda skidded, made a sudden 10 board move at 40-42 ft, then rolled out.

This was with the cover hit with a grey pad on the spinner. Left a nice sheen finish on it. Any ideas ?

I'm looking for more roll though the pin deck indstead of that quick move and roll...

No ideas with polish on this ball please, with my revs and axis rotation, I don't need any more angle, lol

The ball is laid out pin above ring, MB about 1 inch right of thumb. Small X hole about 4 inches over (inside PAP). My specs are in my profile...

Thanks guys !

Are you bowling 1st or 2nd shift? I bowl a 2nd shift big $ league and have found that 500 grit abralon and then Storm step 3 helps it read the midlanes better with good finish on the back end. I have about the same layout on my Saga as you do. Hope this helps...

yeh if u leave it sanded i notice it suks. i sanded mines down with the grey scotch pad also and it seemed to sheen but it was horrible. you have to keep it polished. maybe the step 3 or any other polish. not the xtra shine though.

Try this.  Sand it with 500grit Abralon and then polish.  If still not enough, lightly hit it by hand with a burgundy scotchbrite.  Adjust pressure as needed to modify the midlane.

I've done this with several Rotos because the factory finish is too high for me.  By hitting with the Abralon and then polish, you are adding midlane by having a rougher underlying surface but still not killing reacton dowlane.  Scotchbrite is just for fine tuning.

Hope that helps.
