Just looked the specs on the Saga..I can't wait to try this out !
I'm thinking it will have a similar ball motion to the Dyno CM.
Both half solid/half pearl, super strong asym cores
Hey Roger any reason form not going with a all pearl Epic ?

I have to admit that they both look really good. To my eyes, the Epic Saga is especially nice to look at. However, it's a medium lane ball and I can't see that much difference between it and the Horizon. I love the core of the Epic's but I'm not sure I can justify that to buy the Epic Saga. Okay....now someone out there....try convincing me otherwise....(please).

I would imagine the Epic Saga would be much stronger overall than the Horizon, both in the midlane and off the spot. This is obviously pure speculation, but seeing as how it's got a believably stronger cover and a stronger, assym core, it would be overall stronger (and more versatile I would imagine) than the Horizon.

I'll be all over that Venus-Particle Pearl/Orbiter Core sounds like as if it was made for me THANK YOU !!! I was kind of hoping that the new Epic was going to a Particle Pearl to replace the Oracle Vision as the hole in the line up still seems to be there between the Battle and the Epic at least for me. Both balls look to be very sweet on the lanes and will undoubtably find thier way into many arsenals. Thank You for keeping us Roto Heads above the rest.

I agree that this ball will be much stronger on the back end than the Horizon, it's got the same coverstock as the SSSE, and that ball flips harder than almost anything I've ever thrown (except for the Fired Up from Storm). Take that coupled with the fact that it uses the Epic Battle core which drove one of the hardest flipping solid particle balls ever and you have the definition of skid/flip.
-
In my opinion, the Saga will be stronger than the original Epic. The core is stronger, and the cover will store more energy, making it cover more boards down lane. The Saga should be the best of the 3, being the cover is very tweakable, and the core is extremely versatile. Dull with a strong layour, it will handle more than enough volume for the regular player, and OOB with a normal layout, it will be very clean and very strong off the spot. Some free agent tour players will most likely be disappointed that Roto cannot be used. The Saga will be a real winner.

302efi - The reason we didn't go all pearl was because we just came out with the Horizon...all pearl.
cnimsk - I would suggest waiting for some comparison videos. That would definitely be beneficial to watch before purchasing. I agree with you though. If you already have the Horizon, you probably don't need the saga.
M Bethe - We did test a pearl particle version, but we discussed and thought about saving that coverstock for a later release (2007).
Juggernaut - Not until July 27th, 2006. Maybe a few "Star" Shops will have some earlier than that. We are in good shape regarding our timeline for launch. I would pre-order it now if you can!
RotoDave - 1% (the magic #)
ragnrk - Dan Smith (our eastern region sales mgr.) did think it hooked a few feet sooner and 5 more boards. That was all visual though, no cats testing there.
I hope I answered all the questions. re-post if you have any other questions.
Thanks,

Excellent releases Roger,
Love the Venus particle pearl release with the big orbiter core (will duo with the saturn very well), and the Saga Hybrid sets up the Epic line towards perfection (with the later addition of a pure pearl), a hybrid that will move (ultimate vision - with maximus core)(novel; ideal).
Sweet. Wow!

One word:
*drool*
Roger, you guys just keep pumping out things that make me want to visit and shake everyone's hand. Roto is impressing me so much. This is why I'm changing my entire arsenal to nothing but Roto's.
Oh...quick question:
Will Roto go back to Full Registration with the PBA? I'd love to see someone throwing a Roto ball on TV once again.

Draxond300 - The dreaded PBA topic. LOL. At this point, I don't believe so. With the rising costs of doing business we are having another growth year without being a fully registered PBA Company. It would be very difficult to throw that money back into the Budget. We are waiting for this years proposal. We will have to wait and see...

Its not the same coverstock, Ultimate Vision Hybrid is presumably even stronger that Sure Grip Revelation. Itll probably handle more oil, so on the same pattern as the SSSE, the Saga should spend energy sooner and maybe not be so sharp. But what it will do is give you angle on really heavy longer patterns, that the SSSE couldnt handle.
--------------------
Thanks for the correction Dave, I saw pearl/solid blend and figured it was the same cover as the SSSE. Upon a closer inspection of the website, I saw otherwise. I'm still excited about the Epic Saga and hopefully, they'll let me order one in the anyball league that I'm bowling in this summer.

Roger, what will Brian LeClair be using out on tour now that he won this years exemption? I would think Storm huh? Or can he use any RG equipment just wondering.
Also, I love all my RG equipment, I pretty much have every ball that came out over the last year and all my new purchases will be RG. Nothing that Storm comes out with really appeals to me right now. Love the RS line, I'll have to pick up a new RS-X and RS-P before they are discontinued. Keep up the good work.

I saw a Saga test ball some time back and everyone is in for a real treat with this release. I don't think you need to worry about it being too close, reaction wise, to the Horizon. The Saga looked significantly stronger and more continuous on carry down than the Horizon. The condition was pretty ugly and I was amazed at how it opened up the lane and hit like a truck. I haven't seen the Venus, but if it's half as good as the Saturn, I'm gonna have to put an order in for both of these.
-
If the new Epic Saga is stronger then the Horizon, then doesn't that put it right near the original Epic as far as reactions go? I'm just wondering. I like the looks of that ball, and will start saving up to get one in a few months, in all probability, but still....unless the original Epic is going to be discontinued fairly soon. Then that would make more sense. But...what do I know. I trust the people at Roto know what they are doing. Anyway, both new releases look good and should do well.

Chuck,
I would think not. These are gonna be 3 different monsters(epic line) in their own right. Yes they are in the same line, but this cover is gonna make a world of a difference. I'm not sure how long you've been with RG but if you recall both the Fuels(Top and Pure) shared the same core as the Apocalypse. However they were 3 TOTALLY different balls just because of the coverstocks. This coverstock/core combo is going to fill a void in the High end line since the discontinuation of the apocalypse. I think the Saga is gonna get through the heads a little cleaner and be A LOT crisper on the backend(which is scary!!!)

Roto Grip forever!!!! What else is there??

Chuck,
I think no matter what we do or other companies do, you are going to have overlapping. My question to you would be, do you plan to purchase every ball we currently make in our line? Most people don't and that is what we count on. If the Epic didn't catch your eye enough to get it because it didn't seem like what you wanted, you might buy the Saga. Make sense? The Epic has a different core and a solid reactive cover.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,

Not every one, no, can't afford that. But I do like the core of the Epics. For that reason I'm interested. Now whether or not interested turns into purchase, that's another question for the future to determine. After all, the Epic Saga isn't even released yet. We're looking at a time frame of fall to winter here, not August.
