is the etrax coverstock mainly designed to get easier length through the heads and midlane while being stronger/ quicker reacting to dry boards? it seems as though the coverstock dominants the core with the three balls that use etrax with only small differences due to the core. i have a hyper cell fused and just bought a halo pearl and now i'm trying to decide whether i should take the fused to 3000 or replace it with a physix since it uses the nrg coverstock which i'm sure won't overlap as much as the fused and halo pearl with the factory finish.
does anybody have an opinion about this?

Well naturally if you have two shiny asym balls with the same cover there's going to be some overlap, but yes you read the cover right. Now both of these take really good to surface, the Fused especially, so if you want to throw 3000 on it, that's a great idea. The PhysiX is a great ball, but no reason to dump the Fused when you can just change the cover . .

thanks luke, i should have been more clear with my original post. i really want to know if the etrax coverstock is more sensitive to oil than the nrg coverstock if both have a 3000 grit finish. i tend to stay away from balls that use a solid coverstock because of my slower ball speed and fairly high track and even though the physix has a hybrid coverstock i don't know if the nano particles would make it burn up puke on it's way down the lane. i really like the way that the fused shapes on the backend but i'd like it to do so earlier on a heavier pattern but don't want to try to get it to do something that it wasn't designed to do. thanks!

I would start with surface change on the Fused.
