Title: FIGJAM (Cell)
Post by: Raven829 on January 30, 2008, 11:44:48 AM
Monday night on Scorpion I took my Cell down to 1000 grit.  It rolled fine but I didn't really bowl well.

Tonight for league on a THS I was going to take it back up to 2000 but I forgot.  I got there late and only had 3 warm-up shots.  Started with a 257.  Second game I went stone 7/, double, 10 pin/, and the last 8 for 269.  Last game was 300 for my first 800 with an 826.  The read and reaction this ball gave me is absolutely incredible.  It was strong yet predictable all night long.  I can't say enough about the ball even though I've had it only a short time.  I'm sure I sold quite a few to local guys tonight also.  Are you listening Mr. Noordhoek? j/k

Congrats!  This is one of the balls on my "to-try list" if I ever have some extra cash.

Congrats on the 300 & 800! How do you have the Cell laid out?

Thank you very much guys.  The layout is 4.5 x 4 (pin, mb) with the pin 3.5 above my midline.  That puts the pin above my ring finger and the MB about 2 inches right of the thumbhole.  No x-hole needed.  I thought at 1000 it would be too early, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Does this mean I'm good enough to come bowl sometime with you and the rest of the Cheeseheads on this board?

What are you doing the afternoon of February 16th?  Wanna make the hour drive North to Lake Ripley Lanes in Cambridge, Wisconsin for scotts33's trios squad?

To be quite honest, it should be me asking if I'm worthy to bowl with you.  I've got a ton of 700's season but nothing more than 760.  However, this ball has been getting a lot of great reviews.  It would be tough for me to turn down my doubles partner's request to pick one of these bad boys up.

Looks like the drill i suggested is working pretty well for you, or at least a close drilling. It does surprise me that 1k worked so well, i thought it burn on anything but a flood interesting find on the surface. I have mine shined on top of the factory surface it rolls more like a Bite now than anything else. Not as much backend but pretty good overall so a very versatile ball it is, this ball can be used on alot of shots.

Now I don't feel so bad using google this time.  Was a little worried that everyone would hammer me if I asked what that meant!!!

Cograts on both Don.

Barry-
You and I seem to have similar games except that I really like the MB closer to my PAP even though I have very little tilt.  I have a low pin Break with the MB at 2.75 and that thing screams on the back.  The 4.5 pin was dead on.

230-
I would love to come up there on the 16th.  At first I thought it was a Wednesday until I realized that I was looking at January's calendar.  I'll PM you.

Thanks for all the congrats guys.  I really appreciate it.

Mine is polished over box which is 2k, i play between 8-12 out to 3-4 board and back. Not much of swing but for me this ball likes to sent out somewhat, it tends to carry better with this approach.

Congrats Don on the 826!  That's some nice shooting.

No 800's for me yet, but I've only thrown it on 2 nights so far, 706 and last week 748(with 3 single pin misses, should have been about 780 ).  Tuesday is league again, can't wait to see what I can come up with this week!

This ball is an absolute monster ! I am going to tweek the cover because our
local THS does not have enough oil. I guy I was bowling next to with a Widow
bite was mad because he just bought it and if he would have seen what it was
doing on my lane (in practice), he would have chose the Cell. Great job
Roto R and D !

I probably should have mentioned that I polished mine as well when I shot the 706, 748...our volume of oil is pretty thin and breaks down quickly on the brunswick pro anvilane synthetics.  I should also mention that the ball has made me almost 3x what I paid for it in our brackets on Tuesday night.
