Following Up on the Winner
« on: February 17, 2019, 10:31:26 PM »
Is anybody still throwing the Winner? It sounded like a pretty interesting ball at the time of release/reviews and I was wondering how those impressions have held up over 6 months. The HP2 line is probably my favorite across all brands and any musings about the balls in that category always catches me ear. Well, eye on here.

Anyways, what are your thoughts?

I still want to try the Winner Solid. I don’t see much of either in my area and it surprises me. There’s one Winner Solid and one Winner I see being used.

Still have mine, don’t throw it much. I don’t tend to like shiny, so it was always going to be conditional for me due to my ball speed. When i DO need shiny, the winner gives me similar length as my hyroad pearl but with a heck of a lot more angularity.

Final verdict for me - pretty good playing on top of the friction on a fresh house shot. Unfortunately, it’s OOB surface puts it in over/under hell as soon as you move into the oil with it. If it sniffs any additional oil, it’s dead. For that reason, I’ve had more success with it late block on sport than house late block.

I’ve never touched the OOB surface. I realize I could probably solve a lot of my issues with it if I knocked the shine off, but i already have mid range syms with surface.

As mentioned, I have higher ball speed. I gravitate towards surface, but I always keep a shiny ball in my bag just in case. It has come in handy a few times, but I consider it a very replaceable ball in my bag. In fact, it’s probbaly the next to go.

I as the previous post have a lot of over under with this ball and I have not changed the surface although when I do find some practice time I will be changing surface. I generally do like 1500 polished but this ball as well as the Daredevil Danger have not worked for me.

I really like my Winner Solid.  I haven't had it 2 months and I've already had 6 700+ series using it and I bowl 1 night a week.  It's a bit earlier than my physix with a strong arc off the spot and similar total board coverage.  Its 15# layed out 50* x 4 1/2 x 30*.  It's a ball that you definitely wanna keep in front of you and not get real steep with angles, but when you can play farther right with it, it awesome.  I dont see very many people around here with it either.  Definitely a bang for buck buy.

I have the Winner (pearl) and use frequently. I use it most when the lanes are more med to med dry. I can move in and play a swing shot. When this shot is there the ball is $ for me. I have it drilled pin down. I like it so much I may get another to stash for later. I am hoping for a hybrid version. Again this ball works great for me!

One winner solid and one winner pearl locally...both roll extremely well by different bowlers.

Seems to be the right amount of ball for THS...
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???
