How should I drill my Mercury?
« on: January 24, 2006, 10:52:31 PM »
I just ordered a Mercury from Buddies.  I requested a 3-4 pin and 2.5-3 oz top weight.  The ball will be used on synthetics with Guardian, 34' wet/dry.  The mids tend to go very quickly.  I am hoping that the Mercury will allow me to play closer to the track area when I normally have to move in to around 4th arrow.  I was not looking for a skid-flip reaction, although I hope that I can get decent recovery with it.  Any suggestions are more than welcome.  BTW, stats are in my profile.  Thanks.

Don......we have similar stats....

I'd probably go w/ a simple 4x4 drill .......Roger at RotoGrip always told me to drill their entry level stuff strong.....its' your best bet....you'll like this piece.

Our captain has one (drilled label cuz he has a ton of hand) and this thing WILL move...but it's perfect for what you describe

Jeff I drilled my mecury 3-4 pin.  Pin above my middle finger with cg in center of grip.  This drilling made a weak ball even weaker and i have high revs.  Lets just say i was quite surpirsed to find out that it is weaker than my spare tire.  I now have a plastic ball that moves more than a resin ball. I have a new mercury coming with my saturn, not going to make that mistake again going to drill this one pin down.
