Rogue cell vs Columbia 300 Full swing
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:06:36 AM »
Which do you think is the better ball? which one is stronger? My friend has a momentum swing and a loud noize and is thinking about getting one of these two so was wondering what everyone thinks?

the Full Swing has more backend, and is a little cleaner down the lane making it a more versatile ball.

I don't know much about the full swing but I have trouble believing it has more back end than a Rogue... The Rogue has the strongest backend move of any ball I have ever thrown. Also, in the Rogue you have one of the most successful cores ever created. If you want an idea of the kind of power you will be getting with the Rogue, just look at the Virtual with a slightly more predictable reaction. The Rogue is very clean through the heads and makes a very strong and fairly angular move off the spot. I have been able to throw the Rogue on oil as heavy as it comes and as light as 36ft. This is a very versatile ball. It is also stronger than the original Cell. So it is the stronger ball. I would also say, with the best core on the market in the Nucleus core, it is the better ball.

I have thrown both of them and the rogue cell is a great ball obviously. The ideas you have about C300 not having the capabilities to out perform a Utah product as far as ball motion down lane are no longer the case. Being in the Roto forum I expect a lot of people to say the Rogue Cell is better but after the Full Swing is released so everyone can see it for themselves it will change preconceived notions anyone has about C300.

I'd pick the ball that has a longer shelf life.....

I have been throwing a Rogue here at home and got a chance to throw the Full Swing at Bowl Expo. To me, the core of the Full Swing matched with the Full Tilt cover made it clear the front a little bit better and gave it more of a flip on the back end than what I saw from the Rogue. The Rogue starts up slightly sooner and is stronger in the midlane than the Full Swing. Both, in my opinion are good balls and it'll depend on what conditions you bowl, to determine which will match up better. I personally would feel that the Rogue would be more controllable, but I also like a smoother reaction with control, a lot of bowlers don't necessarily care for that reaction.

You are exactly right but remember the surface prep on the Rogue makes it earlier, the two balls are close but the Full Swing is a little cleaner and a little more on the back but not to the point of being uncontrollable. This is a a great oil ball WITH backend reaction and not having to sacrafice one for the other is rarely seen.

i would agree that the rogue cell is a strong ball, all 3 of the cells handle oil very very well, they hook about the same just different parts of the lane, i love my rogue cell as well as the others, i would also like to see how these 2 stack up against each other

You say you don't know much about the Full Swing (I'm going to go out on a limb and say the only thing you do know is that it's made by Columbia).  So please tell me how you can make an assumption that the Rogue is the better ball?  That makes no sense to me at all.

The Rogue cell was no where close to being as aggressive as a virtual gravity, no where close. While it had more backend then the original cell, to say its a more predictable virtual, thats a bit of an overstatement! Now I have never liked any columbia balls as of late, but this full swing looks to be the real deal. If it does what the vidoes insist it does, this will be the first columbia ball in my bag.

Ha! Now see this is where personal opinion, and personal "likes" in ball movement come into play!

You say the VG is no where close to the Rogue in aggression, and I totally disagree. The Rogue, to me, on conditions made for this ball, is all controlled aggression! Just as powerful as a VG! To me the VG is just more angular.

I would love to compare this Full Swing to see just how it compares to a Rogue, cause the Rogue is one strong ball, hands down.

Couldn't agree more with this statement, seen a few people switch from the VG to the Rogue because of this, the Rogue is defiantly more controlled and i believe it hits much harder than the VG.
