SD-73 Flare
« on: January 24, 2007, 02:42:36 AM »
Hello,

I tried posting this question before but no one really answered.  I keep reading that the SD-73 has some ridiculous amounts of flare (like 8 to 9 inches of flare potential).

What does this mean exactly?  If it means what I think it means it makes me think that some of the tracks would roll over the finger holes.

Anyway, this ball looks pretty sweet from a design standpoint.

With higher rev rates it will flare over the entire ball, i am no handed and get 7 plus inches on my sd-73 which is nothing on this powerful core.

I have very little hand and still get 6"-7" of flare out of mine.  Ball is just an oil vacuum that handles everything.  Oil rings very well seperated and distinct bow tie does not flare over any of the gripping holes.

Because of where the bow tie in the flare pattern is located there shouldnt be a problem with flaring over the fingers... on my one the ball is vertually completely covered with flare lines, and theres no problems with tracking over the holes.

We'll see what this ball will do with someone with some hand. I'll be drilling one up this week. I know one thing, it won't be in box condition, it'll be a marble before it sees the lane.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.  I am having a hard time picturing this much flare.

Put a game on mine, before I had to put it away, and It's an absolute beast, it flares all the way back to my hand.
