Title: Help-Roto Grip Shout 14 lb
Post by: jed224 on October 21, 2014, 12:28:35 PM
I am looking for a ball for my 17 y/o daughter who is a relative novice to the sport.  She wants to bowl for her H.S.   Went to pro shop and this is one of the balls they suggested.  She is a competitor and elite athlete but not a bowler.  I say this because I expect her to pick this sport up quickly with some sense of success.  I only want one ball.  Finger tip or conventional grip?  Any thoughts on this ball or suggestions on others.  Thank you!

As a "beginner", any "entry level" ball would be fine. I personally only have Roto equipment, and the Shout seems like it would be a great start. The ball is stronger than it would seem per the specs, but cover is easily adjusted.

I would suggest that she go fingertip, and learn with proper coaching.

I use the Shout a lot in leagues, but had to add a touch more polish to "tame" it for me.

You can look into any manufacturers line-up and basically choose a lower price ball and it should fit the bill in getting her started.

Seeing that she is athletic, definately fingertip with some coaching. Shout is a good ball starting out. I put a lot of my customers in this category in the Storm Tropical Breeze Black/Cherry.
