Mercury vs Neptune
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:55:10 PM »
Don't know if this has been cover in the past, want to see how they stack up against each other.

I know they have the same cover and a similar core, anything else different?

On the lanes, how do they compare and contrast?

For me, the Neptune reads better and is not as over/under.  I don't know if it's because there might have been a slight cover tweak (although both the same name) or if the inverted core causes ending RG values to change and thus the drilled core in the Neptune is stronger.

I haven't had many games with the Pluto (Cell is being worn out), but I'm also seeing the same difference between the Saturn and Pluto.

What's the difference Anthony?  Saturn more over/under?  Hmmmm when I had one never thought that....had a Mercury and I could see that.

Anthony, are you saying the Pluto is stonger than the Saturn.  There are times I can't get the Saturn to stop......Saturn/Pluto appear to be the same with the exception of the RG #'s and the newer/upgraded core.

Sorry guys for the confusion.  The Saturn wasn't over/under because of the solid cover.  I did compare the Mercury side by side to the Neptune but I've only done relative comparisons with the Pluto (i.e  the difference between the Saturn and Ball A and the Pluto and Ball A).  The differences aren't huge at all.  Very subtle and more noticeable with the Neptune because of the pearl cover.

Also regarding what I meant by ending RG values.  Even though they start out with different values, it's possible that after drilling the Orbiter II (Neptune/Pluto) core has a higher diff and/or a lower RG.   Take a look at the core and see that you are drilling out a part of the huge block on top.  I have never checked it and could be way off base but it could explain the differences I've seen assuming the covers are identical.

Hope that clears it up.

Cool, trying to figure out which one to buy to fit under my AP1.  Probably going to lay it out with the pin over the bridge and the CG in the grip center.
