Normally you have to be a 225-230 average league bowler with multiple 300/800 awards and also have won some tournaments.
Its not easy to get on staff with any ball company. There is a whole bunch of really, really good bowlers out there trying compared to very few openings.

It's important to keep in mind that there are not an "unlimited" number of staff contracts available (with any company).
During times when the economy is struggling I suspect that every ball company has to tighten their belt a bit, too. Good luck.

This is true. I sent Ebonite an e-mail, asking about how I'd go about joining the ball staff, and Ed sent me an e-mail back saying there aren't any positions with the economy in the shape it's in right now... but he told me to send a resume for future reference if I wanted..

Other than working in a pro shop, I guess one of the other few ways to get the company some attention is to bowl in a lot of tourneys using their balls. There's also advertising like wearing their shirts or logos.

Now, one of things he does do is visit other pro shops as he's bowling regionals to see if they carry Storm/RG and talk to the owners of the pro shops. That's a big part too....but to make sure that you pimp your own products in your shop is a good way to lower your sales.

Hope this sheds some light for any of you people out there looking for a ball deal. Have a plan when you get your shot to talk to a rep about a deal. Because they could care less about how good of a bowler you are they want to know how good a "sales person" you will be. Good luck!

Being a former ball rep, I can tell you the bottom line is How will you (the staffer) help us (the ball company) sell balls. The bottom line is about selling product. Now it also is important to represent yourself in a professional manner at all times but selling product is the most important portion to get a ball deal. If there is one thing I don't miss about being a rep is this question, "hey, I love your stuff been using it for years, I average 235 and have umpteen honor scores can I have a staff deal?" My next question to them was "how will you help me/ball company sell my product?" Usually I get a deer in headlights look when I say that but if they didn't have a plan I usually didn't have an interest in that particular person.
