Title: How was the Hyper Cell Skid?
Post by: Snakster on February 18, 2017, 06:34:29 PM
Trying to get a read on what the general consensus was/is for the HCS.  Widely loved? Good but niche ball?  Good idea that didn't quite deliver?

Asking because I noticed local pro shop had one on shelf on sale for a pretty nice price.

When it was current, my local pro shop guy said it was the best ball available. He mentioned that he could put it any bowlers hands and they would have success.

Great ball.....when you can use it. On house, great ball to start with. Typically you'll strike a lot in practice and first game. Then you'll flat 10, move in and start leaving hard leaves. 4s or 9s. At this point, bag it. The ball is so strong you can't use it for very long.

If I were you, I would purchase it. In my city, it's one of the more consistent, versatile, and continuous pearl balls ever used, as mentioned above, it will leave a lot of corners and 8's/9's, it becomes to jumpy. I personally love mines, if I didn't have this one, I would easily purchase a No Rules pearl.

Can't beat a cell pearl remake lol.  Even the no rules is dope.

I think it is exactly as Northface describes it!! I can use it on the fresh shot only. I flat ten myself to death after that! I am rev dominant though. I have seen many a fluffer have great success with it. Just saying.

When it came out there sure were a lot of honor scores shot with it at my local house.  I thought it looked great all three games for most of the people I saw.

My HCS was a house shot killer on the left side of the lane.  I did not have any carry issues after game 1 as noted by others in this thread.
