Title: Hyper Cell vs Sinister(for El Paso)...
Post by: jay8149 on May 04, 2015, 01:00:54 AM
I'll be drilling one of these for Nationals this year. Will be going pin down. Looking on opinions from people who have thrown both or seen both thrown with somewhat similar layouts. Or just from anyone who's knowledgeable about both balls. Thanks for any input! Little extra info...I'm already taking a C300 Melt Down(pin up) and a Wrecker(pin down).

That just seems like a lot of differential for El Paso.......there may be a better ball selection.  Don't rule out something with a lower diff with some surface....

Bowled a king of the hill on this pattern ( GM said the house has a bit more friction)

My best look was with either my hyroad solid or my IQ tour nano.

One our guys who is up the boards with speed was able to play deep with a hyper...he really liked that look.  I got 8th out of 66, playing straight with a hyroad solid at 2000k.

Nothing to brag about but I hope that helps.  3 game qualifier cut was led by 620, I had 556 and match played my way to 8th.

I brought my sinister but never got a good look carry wise with thus ball.  It left many weird leaves which brought me back to the hyroad! It left like 9-10 leaves,

Ok, I'll throw this in too then. What ball out of the current Roto line up would ya recommend? I'm open to other suggestions. I just don't really have a true heavy oil ball if need be. I'm a medium rev/medium speed who doesn't generally enjoy playing left of center. Thanks!

Go with an Asylum or Disturbed if you can find one. Hyper Cell will be too much ball and will force you left pretty rapidly.

Many people were throwing these two with decent success.  I beat em though, and I felt that their game was stronger than mine.  (I made spares and dont have an attitude problem lol)

Agreed with northface. Hyper Cell will chew up the fronts pretty bad. If you're looking at the current lineup on the website, I would go with a Hysteria with a ton of surface or an Outcry with some surface.

I'd have to say the Nano would be a great choice if you want to stay Utah

Thanks for the opinions. Already have a pin down wrecker I'm taking so not sure how the outcry would complement that unless I put surface on it. Could be a decent idea though. I have an asylum and idk, I just can't get lined up with that ball, basically ever, lol.

TJ Schmidt crushed it with a pin Shout @ 500, guy on my team with a Rumble with a motion hole @ 500 shot 1952. So low diff balls with a ton of surface is a good idea.

I did see quite a few Nanos in the telecasts.

IQ Tour Nano

I think both of those balls are too angular.  I would chose a Tour IQ or Nano.

So, to summarize, something symmetrical, lower diff, lots of surface

I used a IQ nano for all 9.  So did one our better scoring bowlers from our squad.

The sinister was the one ball I wished I had brought with with as it is super smooth.  Assyms were pretty good going up the boards, symmetricals looked best crossing boards.

Just got back from El Paso on Sunday.

I had success with a pin-up IQ Tour Nano (at 2k), a pin-up Totally Defiant (1500 polished, and hit with a 1k pad by hand VERY lightly), and a pin-up IQ Tour Solid (at 3k).  The IQ Tour Solid was good later in doubles/singles block.

I brought a pin-down Sinister with me, and it was just way too much ball. I also had a pin-down IQ Tour Fusion, and that wasn't bad.  I had it at 2k surface, and it read the lanes too early.

El Paso hooks a lot more than I thought.  Hope this helps!

El Paso hooked a lot for me as well, and I am a speed dominant bowler.  My skid was by far my best ball reaction, surface at 3000.  Shot 580 in doubles and 710 in singles with it.  Saw several being used early on in the webcasts, i know one guy had 770 with it, and some other big 700's i believe.
