Sonic Line vs. Planet Line
« on: March 13, 2009, 11:18:30 AM »
Here's the way I see these 2 Lines compared... you may agree or disagree.

Super Sonic VS. Saturn
Ultra Sonic VS. Venus
Sonic X Solid VS. Pluto
Sonic Boom VS. Mars
Sonic X Pearl VS. Neptune

And to me, it appears that the Sonic Line of balls had slightly more Midlane and Strong Backend... where as the Planet Line has more Length and Strong Backend.

Discuss...

(general tendencies -- barring extreme drilling for flip or early roll)

Super Sonic is not as strong as the Saturn (Saturn has more midlane and more drive)
Ultra Sonic (pearl) is a lot more flippy than the Venus (particle pearl)

don't have the Mars or the Pluto or Sonic Boom (a friend has this one)

I also have the Sonic X Pearl & Solid and Neptune

Sonics' IMHO were better in terms of consistency.
Planets' tend to be more dynamic -- but, that's the trend these days.

Love all the Sonics -- but the Planets are damn good just a little more speed sensitive.

It is a good series comparison especially given where they fit in the Roto Grip universe. With Mars likely the last Planet it will be interesting to see if Roto Grip stays with the current large volume Orbiter IIâ„¢ Core philosophy for their value performance line. Pretty much the same question on the future of the Helios IIâ„¢ Core in the mid-line Illusions after the expected/hoped for hybrid comes out.

Super Sonic VS. Saturn - not bad but my Saturn was a monster, you'd be surprised how much ground it could cover.  Kind of disappointed in myself for giving it to Charlest

Ultra Sonic VS. Venus - I don't see this, the Venus rolled instantly and was a super control ball for me.  It pretty much puked if there wasn't enough head oil to get it passed the arrows.

Sonic X Solid VS. Pluto - Not a chance, my Pluto is quite a damn strong ball and plenty stronger than the Sonic Solid and many other balls out there.

Sonic Boom VS. Mars - I don't have either so I can't comment.

Sonic X Pearl VS. Neptune - Not bad, both liked light oils for me but my Neptune was a sensitive pain in the ass, it either hated any sight of oil or dry.  I felt the Sonic Pearl was a more even rolling controllable and predictable ball.
