Odyssey or Quest
« on: August 20, 2007, 05:00:19 AM »
I just started using RotoGrip over the last month of so after Dynothane went out. I got my hands on a a Horizon Solid(maybe my favorite ball ever) and Venus and love them both to death. I am looking for a ball above the Solid and was looking for some thoughts. I know the Quest isnt out yet, but any help would be great on which is for heavier oil or carry down. I also got a used Saga from a friend and wasnt impressed and I know it has the same core as the Odyssey. The Saga hated oil and really didnt carry well at all for me. I am a stroker with lower ball speed. I really like to play straight up with the Horizon but when I need to swing it thats where the ball kinda gets caught up for me, thus looking for a harder hooking ball on the carry down and something to start of with when the lanes are flooded.

I'm pretty sure the Quest is available... my local proshop has one on the shelf.  It looks like a darker Alter Ego.

Both the Quest and the Battle should do what you want; the Odyssey may work as well but to really push it above your Horizon Solid you'll have to take the surface down.

I'd wait for the Quest or get the Battle now if you can't wait.

I have the Horizon Solid and the Battle, and I just picked up the Odyssey on Saturday.  The Odyssey is a big step above the Horizon Solid.  When I threw it in practice yesterday, the ball in OOB condition was rolling out.  I have put on a light coat of Finesse It with my spinner at home.  Hopefully, this will tame the midlane read and leave something more for the backend.  My league starts tonight, so I'll update you as to how it does.  The Battle only comes out in heavy oil.  This ball worked great on the Shark pattern in my PBA Experience league.

The Quest should give you a great look from the outside on heavy and/or longer oil patterns...it should retain just a bit more energy than the Battle, and make a slightly more pronounced, and more continuous move in the back.
