Mars...inital impressions
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:46:48 AM »
Hi All,

First of all, thanks to Roger for getting this piece out to me to try out.

The new MARS from Roto-Grip uses a hybrid version of the Sure Grip II cover.  Here are a few pictures:

I went with a 4.25 x 3.75 layout (Pin is in my ring finger).  I threw this ball friday night in league, and really liked what i saw out of this ball.  The Mars allowed me to take a nice step right and play real close to the friction, yes there are plenty of balls on the market that will allow me to do this, but this ball really eliminated the over under i normally see when i try and camp out at that part of the lane.  The ball rolled consistently off the dry on misses right and sat real nice on missed shots in.

This ball will fit perfectly between the neptune and pluto and will be a great bang for your buck.  The shield line from roto grip in my opinion is now the most well rounded line up at its price point in the market.  Value, shelf appeal, and consistent performance...what more could you want?

ALSO: I also recieved the new Rogue Cell

I didn't see near enough volume for this beast so i put it away pretty quickly...once im able to throw it more, ill let you guys know what i think.

SOOO who wants a video?

I noticed Britton said this ball has the Orbiter core, but isn't it actually the second version of it?  This is just what I'm assuming based on the differential as posted by Britton.  The original has .028 and the second has .018(for 15#).

If it rolls anything like my Strike Cell it will be money! I absolutely love the Strike Cell, it rolls strong in the midlane like the Cell, but with more backend. I have the Cell, Cell Pearl, and Strike Cell and they are all amazing and have their place in my bag! It feels a lot like Christmas all over again waiting on my Rogue! Just my $.02, Bruce

Do you know if it will have a similar price point to that of the neptunes?

Thanks for the photos - currently everything in my bag has a hybrid cover stock. I find they smooth out my "somewhat inconsistent" release and make it look like I know what I am doing - LOL

I hope you can make VideoBallReviews.Com work for you - one of my favorite sites.

I may have to get one as well since I don't have any balls below my Power Machine other than my Scout (which I use as my spare ball). Would like to see how this ball is compared to the Venus.
