SAGA...second first impressions ;)
« on: May 31, 2007, 11:15:58 PM »
Hi all,
Many of you know that I have had the bad timing of 2 R/Gs cracking on me, Saga and Mystic.  R/G was gracious enough to replace the Saga for me .  So I decided to have the ball punched up.  Now before I go into reactions I must rescend my statement from this post that I made last year:

http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=135077&ForumID=77&CategoryID=2

My buddy Achappy teased me after seeing how well I have been rolling my R/G equipment.  I will make another post in the Misc. section to show what changed my mind, it had nothing to do with the coverstock problems it was me.

But at any rate...my boy DP3 slapped the "DP3 Layout" on the Saga.  It started with a 2.5 - 3 inch pin with 2.22 ozs. sideweight.  DP3 laid it out as follows:
4 3/4" pin to PAP
5"MB to PAP
75 degree MB
3 inch pin buffer(distance between pin and VAL)
Finish: OOB

I threw this ball on your THS, this house has pretty crisp backends so you can get just about anything to move. One thing I can say about this ball is that it gives me LENGTH.  I mean this thing goes long but the backend reaction is unreal.  I started off the night standing 33 and hitting 17 at the arrows using about 9-10 as my breakpoint.  And this baby shined, it rolled right up to the pocket.  It gave me so much area, there were shots I leaked out to about 6 or 7 that I just knew weren't getting back, but I was wrong! I liked the motion it gave me because it allowed me to get deeper and it gave me just enough on the backend to finish strong and flush. I thought that the backend reaction would be a lot snappier, but the core evens that out a tad and then just rolls forward.

The ball gave me great carry, I may have left one ringing 10 and a few 9's. All the others were just part of my stupidity. The only negative I can say of this ball is that it doesn't like too much carry down, it skid just a little too far on a couple of the shots during the 3rd game.  But it was still OOB so I'm not upset at that its to be expected.

Overall, this is a great ball even the second time around.  If you don't have one, try one its really nice

I'd say I was pretty impressed watching the matchup you had with the Saga (although you went against my experiment advice )  The angle and control you had was something I haven't seen from you.

I'm glad you finally realized that you a decent rev count and great release so you'll be able to better matchup to your equipment and start taking advantage of the easier shots.  Just don't get carried away when you bowl us...I'll have to slap you down

The DP3 Layout is a beast on the House Shot.  Hopefully in 2 weeks my equipment will be straightened out and we'll be able to get this Hoss Central train rolling.
