Question on the Fuel.
« on: June 23, 2003, 02:47:15 AM »
I have a good chance to pick up a fuel and was wondering what Storm ball it is similar to. One guy said it was like the Storm LRG. Any thoughts? Thanks.

JJ,
I have a Fuel, and nothing in the Storm lineup is like the Fuel. Why are you asking that ?  The Fuel is WAY stronger than the LRG, hands down. Stronger cover and core (asymmetrical).

The Fuel is a great med-heavy to heavy ball with nice length, great midlane and great backend for a particle ball. It never over-reacts and keeps the pins low and is constant thru the deck.

I can use this ball from fresh mediums, to heavy long sloppy shots....just ignores carry-down ...for me at least.

I have mine drilled 4 strong.  If you need a ball for heavier, longer patterns, this is definately a GREAT choice.  Stay tuned, Roger from RotoGrip will surely chime in here

Thanks Jeff
I asked because I have the core power lrg and don't need the fuel if they are alike. The core power lrg is a real strong ball.

JJ,
it depends on what you need it for.....if the LRG is covering your heavier shots that you see, then no, you don't need a Fuel...but if you need something stronger, as I described above...I would suggest it........

Sir,

If you are wanting something to roll sooner and be a little different from your LRG than you might want to look at a silver Streak Particle.  This ball definitely gets into a roll and loves oil.  The Fuel is similar and more versatile as far as covering a wider range of conditions.  In my eyes for most bowlers the SS Particle rolls sooner and would definitely be a good ball to add to your aresnal.

Thanks,

JJ,

I have to agree with Roger here. I followed his advice about resanding it to 800 grit and know it works great. In box condition it was polished to much for my speed and know it starts rolling about half way down the lane. It makes a very strong and continuous move to the pocket. Now I just have to decide what I will get to fit between the SS Particle and the SS Pearl. hmmm

Roger, Mike,....

look at JJ's response to me above.....he's not looking to add anything...he's comparing the Fuel to the LRG becuase he has an opportunity to get a Fuel and, he has an LRG.  I think what he needs is to understand for himself if he needs something stronger than the LRG.  If the LRG is working well for the heavier shots he sees, then maybe we need to steer him in the Silver Pearl direction !

Thanks Jeff for clearing that up. I guess I skipped over his response back to you. Responding at work makes me read a little quicker sometimes, especially right before it is time to leave to go to league.

JJ, take Jeff's advice on getting a SS Pearl if you don't have a ball for the lighter side of medium. I've had mine for a couple of months now and just love it. As I believe I have heard Jeff say in the past, "If you like Storm, you will love Roto Grip." I think that is the way he puts it.
