Mystic
« on: July 03, 2007, 01:52:37 AM »
Recently picked up the Mystic after reading the reviews here.
I only threw the ball for two frames was wondering if anyone
needed to burn up the cover before realizing the true reaction of
the ball.

You usually need to get a track in a ball to really know how it will react over time.  Dynothane Soakers need 10-20 games to come alive, my Thing Lives and Energy both got noticeably stronger after a couple dozen games.

I had a lot of success with my Mystic on the Cheetah pattern also.  I got this ball to get down the lane but for control.

On my 39 foot house shot with nice backends the ball is a monster, at my other house with a sloppier 40 ft pattern it is at least 7 boards straighter.

Weird ball it acts exactly like the Shift which i suspect is the same exact cover, i got almost identical results in both houses with each ball.

Man I dunno how you guys have your Mystics are drilled or what kinda cover prep you have.  I have had 2 and both of them flat out move when they saw friction.  The first one I put to about 2000 abralon and it was very smooth and deliberate off the spot.  Then it cracked I got another and kept it in box and this thing just flies off the friction.  I wish I would try to throw it on cheetah...LOL that would be the day. Next to the SD-73 I Think this ball is RG's best release of 2007.

BTW, my balls were both drilled identical. 4 1/2 pin to PAP, no WH...CGs no matter. LOL but they were essentially stacked under the bridge.

Oh and I forgot....NY Mike, I didn't have to put any games on my mystic to see its power.  One thing that I will note is that I have to chase the oil.  Meaning I have to make sure that I'm not getting it to the dry too quickly.  When that happens the ball will roll out or just check too early. I liked my 2000 abralon Mystic the best, because it was so smooth and predictible.  But I think I will leave this one OOB for a minute.

The Mystic is a flat out awesome ball. Great control with great power.....what a combination!

Oh yeah and kudos to FBM on his choice of music while throwing his Total, during his video. I'll watch the video, just so I can hear Saliva play! One of my all time favorite bands! ( his bowling wasn't too bad either) : )

I have my Mystic drilled 4 1/2" from pap and about 3" up the midline. This is my first trip into Roto-Grip and I must say I really like this ball. clears good has a late mid lane and a very hard continuing backend.
