Expanding Arsenal
« on: January 13, 2015, 11:55:40 AM »
Hey Guys,

I want to find something to fill in the void in my arsenal for medium equipment on medium and longer length patterns that are in 2nd transition, as well as the end of longer tournament days without re-oiling.

My stats are: Rev rate 275, Axis Tilt low, Track is high, axis rotation is unknown, Ball speed 16.5, and my PAP is 4.75" over by 7/16" up. I am left handed, so transition doesn't usually happen as fast for me.

Currently I am using a Berserk drilled 55 x 5 x 50 and it is at 3000, and a Wrecker drilled 75 x 5 x 70 at 3000 polished. The Berserk rolling great for me when I need to make the first move right and get a little more length with control still during the first transition, while the Wrecker sometimes seems to work below the Berserk and other times seems to be too early. I am looking to add in balls that will allow me to keep following the oil right and then moving back left with something weaker if I need to. I am also thinking about getting something stronger that allows me to play from the deep inside part of the lane if I need to, although that's not as much of a priority.

Here are my proposed ideas:
Uproar drilled ~ 60 x 5.25 x 45
Wrecker drilled ~ 75 x 5.25 x 35
Shout drilled ~ 75 x 5 x 35

Not sure if the Rumble or Outcry would be a better fit here over the Uproar or not? Any other suggestions you guys may have would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the help!

Jake

I would go Uproar, grear ball it will allow you to play straighter and if you need some hook it will also provide it, OOB it will give a good nice length and continuation through the pins, if feeling it a little bit weak you can change the surface to get more traction.

From what I understand, better something weaker than something really strong, the Uproar is just that adjustable ball you need.

Hammer BWRLS 50*4*55

Motiv Venom Shock 45*3 3/4*35

PAP 4 3/4" left 1/2 up

I would look at either Hysteria or Asylum to chase the oil. I have a Uproar, IMO it is better for more drier conditions, I dont use it to chase the oil. Out of the balls that you listed , I would look at the Wrecker or Rumble. To play deeper, I would look at either the Hyper Cell Skid or a Sinister.

Just recently picked up an Uproar. I am a righty, but stats are close to yours. Drilled it up approx. 45x41/4x45. Is good on drier lanes, but I have found that when the lanes get real toasty you may have to go to a Trop. Breeze or a Shout. I lose carry when I get to playing deeper than 18 to 20 at the arrows. Maybe a different drilling with a longer pin position would help.

I really like the Hysteria for that condition (the core helps conserve energy as you move in more than anything I've seen out there).  You may want to consider the new Unhinged as well given the pearl cover it may be a better step in from the Berserk.

I found the opposite with my Uproar and I am sure it's more my bowler stats (in profile) and lane conditions used on.  My Uproar at 80*(PAP-pin-PSA)x5 1/8"x42* was great on an outside trajectory but when moving inside the 3rd arrow on transitioned and burnt heads was very iffy at best and I have tried every known surface to man.  I found for myself with the .030 ttal diff. for me that was too long of a pin to PAP distance (5 1/8").  Might work for Belmo with his rev rate but my paltry 300 revs no go. 3rd game in sets average dumped all year to the point I would not use it.  Anyone want a cheap Uproar let me know.  http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q29/scotts33/Bowling%20Equipment/RotoGripUproar_zps66a7e1bd.jpg  Lesson learned.

I would think the Unhinged would be a great bet.
