New Roto Grip Balls
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:16:14 PM »
Roto has 2 new releases in the HP 1 line coming out called the Freestyle. One looks to be a two tone reddish color and the other looks like the old Storm Lucid.

It was in my May issue of Bowlers Journal I just received. Looks pretty interesting, both balls have a polished hybrid shell but both have different coverstocks. It's says Psyched and Stoked hybrid reactive coverstocks to chose from, you determine your breakpoints.

Any idea when? After seeing this backwards pattern they put down for my shot today I was looking into a loco to play very straight

It's interesting that they might be moving on from the Loco balls so soon after the Shout and Scream balls were in production for three years (albeit in different colors each year). Also might signal a change from their coverstock naming conventions by going away from the numbering system.

Good

The numbering thing is stupid.....

Nucleus core, cytoplasmic cover stock...stuff like that rocks my world!

Personally I would be very disappointed to see the Locos go. The Loco Solid reminds me of a weaker IQ Tour. Saw a ton of those on the rack for the burn. Guess I better pick one up on clearance.
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

Hmmm looks ride-ish on the logo! Those punks...offshoot of the match core too.  But the numbers are probably way different.

I am interested to see what the core numbers look like

I wouldn't expect them to be too different from the loco series.

Given the review, that the current (May) issue of BJI, just gave the Storm Match balls (with an apparently very similar core to that in this new Freestyle), I'd suspect that the Freestyle balls will not replace the Loco balls, but be a slight step up from them.
(I don't know, but I suspect. It depends on how strong the Freestyles' core numbers are and how strong their coverstock winds up being.)
