RS-X vs. UI-how to drill rsx?
« on: April 25, 2005, 04:50:01 PM »
how would the rs-x compare to an ultimate inferno? say they're drilled the same what would be the difference as far as overall hook, shape, oil handling? lmk.

Mike....their specs are very much the same and if the new solid is anything like the Vision coverstock, (and it is) ....LOOK OUT !

Both balls have similar specs with the RSX having a higher flare potential...

pm me w/ questions

Jeff,

It better not be like the freaking UI. If it is mine is going to be up for sale so fast your head will spin. (Expecting my RS-X from Buddies any day now) My UI burnt up in the heads so fast, it was useless. I would have needed to put the pin in the track to get any length with a diamond finish on it.

CharlesT, a 2000 grit abralon pad would have done the trick. I did one today with a 4" stacked with x-hole past the axis, the customer loved it. I notice that stronger cover with stronger layouts needs smoother surfaces ie 1500-4000 especially if you your playing on wood surfaces.

mines in the mail should be here friday. i'm a med-high speed, med revs player, pap is 5 1/4, 3/4 up. i want this ball to start up a little earlier, maybe 35-40 feet, and make a strong move to the pocket. i want a pretty good backend. any ideas on how to drill it? most of my stuff is pin above the ring, cg 1/2" or so outside that. with as high a track as i have i can't very well put pins below the fingers or i go over the thumb pretty bad. lmk any ideas.

charlest! of ALL PEOPLE!!
Please.....re-read what I wrote....their SPECS are similar ( I didn't say they'd react similar...right ?!

Also...I said...if the cover is anything like the Vision (which it's supposed to be!) .....LOOK OUT (meaning........it's going to be a great ball!) And you'll get plenty of length, good midlane and nice big continuous backend, banana type shape hard-arcing.....

I've never thrown the UI, ...I've seen it, but haven't thrown it, ...but I haven't seen the RSX either,....but  I've thrown the Vision though and these 2 balls have the same "base" coverstock....and the Vision reaction was super!

I see the RSX being a little earlier and stronger across the entire lane than the RS1...I think it will be earlier and smoother than the Vision...smoother, but still strong!

RSX and RS1 may turn out to be the best THS 1-2 punch for the dollar in a LOOONG time !

You're fine!  Your head won't spin!

Mike, I'd go 4x3 , pin next to ring, axis hole in the thumb quadrant...scuffed to 800-1000 smooth

Yeah, I know some of those "finaglings", Lonce. I tried some polish on it and was so disappointed in its reaction, that I got rid of it; did someone a big favor. I usually don't dump a ball until I've tried several things, but seeing how bad this ball reacted stock and polished made me a little upset. Besides I have a New Standard which is my standard for oilers right now. By the way, I really liked the reactions I got from Activator+ in the Intense and it is VERY versatile, in its potentiality. Just have too many other balls to play with more Activators right now. Thanks anyway.

What kind of lane condition do you plan on using the RSX on. I have one that is drilled with the pin 4 " from my pap , over ring finger with cg kicked out 45 degrees , weight hole 2 inches down and it is very strong. Probably 5 to 7 boards stronger than my Oracle Vision which is drilled 4 x 4. The box surface is very skid snappy. I hade to sand to 800 and polish to 1200 to tame the reaction a little. Hope this helps. Roto Grip rules!!!!

The Rs-x gets through the heads much better than the U.I. with a much stronger back end
