OK, I love my RS-X!
« on: February 06, 2006, 12:29:12 PM »
I was having trouble with this ball at first.  The ball was too squirty.  I finally decided that the box finish had to go so I hit it with some Clean 'N Smooth and that did the trick.  It is a backend monster and hits with authority!  Drilled 4"x4" (no x-hole thanks to the low starting top weight)

It figures that soon after, I discover a big gash on the side of the ball from the stupid lanes.  I don't think it is affecting it though since it just kills the pins.

Many thanks to my bud for the great birthday present!

As long as the gash is not in the track, the flare rings don't hit it too much, you should be OK.

I had to change the surface of mine also; was too impatient to let wear do the job. Now the surface is back close to the original and it still hooks hard at the backend (5x3 drilling) and needs more oil than I face recently.

Backend borders on a skid/flip reaction; odd for a solid reactive, even polished. I might have moved thepin too far; 4" - 4.5" might have bene plenty.

Live and learn.

Yeah that is the problem, the very last couple of flare rings hit the gash.  I took it to my local pro shop and he said not to bother with it since there is always the chance of creating a flat spot after filling and resurfacing.

I really should snap a pic but I'm just too lazy so I'll do my best to describe the gash:
1" long
1/4" wide
1/18" deep

I believe the ball hit a screw that was laying in the pit somewhere as I didn't throw it into the gutter.
