I ask because I see Pearls and solids being sold for fairly low prices and I was wondering ...
(Individuals, please don't tell me how much you love yours. I understand they're good, heck, great balls and most owners should have good results. I'm just wondering whey I see them selling for such low pricess in several venues.)
I believe the Cells and the Planet series have gotten too much notoriety.

Not sure why they are not selling or if they are not selling. I see Buddies has them currently @$112.95.
I'd be of the opinion that is a great strongish ball 2.55 .054 (Solid anyway) for those looking at that type of equipment at that price point. Wish I'd see more length so I could use mine more.
The Cell line and Nomad line are both at great price points.

In my shop they are selling quite well, especially the solid. It has worked very well as a step down to the Mutant Cell. Due to how versatile the Cell series is I am sure it hurts the sells of the Nomads some, but they are really easy to fit into almost anyone's arsenal.

Thanks, Lane and Jmartin.
Scott, I know it's an excellent ball. I remain perplexed by the sales I see. I mean it must be priced a notch below any Cell.
More feedback, pro shop guys, please!

I have no idea why, but they haven't sold well in my shop either. They roll great. The Nomad has been my go to in my scratch league. It was a total breath of freshair into that line in my opinion. That being said, what seems to be selling in that price point in my shop is mostly Reigns, but after that bowlers look to upgrade some, like Cells, TR2s, that sort of stuff.
Outside of that, I'm not sure why they're not selling better for me.
-
Im about even with the sales of Nomad solids/pearls vs. the Cell line

Around here the Cells fly off the shelves I've seen 2 people throw a Nomad, one was my driller
-
Nomad sells in my shop but it is not flying off the shelves. Whenever someone is looking for a versatile ball (medium heavy to medium light) or a benchmark ball it is what I end up recommending.
In case anyone is interested this is what seems to sell for me these days
Hammer Jigsaw
Storm Virtual Energy
Hammer Onyx Vibe
Storm Furious
Storm Natural
Columbia Freeze
The two most popular Roto Balls right now are the Mutant and the Nomad Solid. One of the problems for me is that Roto used to have a price to value advantage but now they are not that much cheaper from the distributors than Storm, Ebonite, or Hammer.
-
Unfortunately, I've only seen one Nomad, and I bowl in 4 leagues over 3 nights in 2 different houses.
The sheeple here in NJ are all over Storm.
Before I get flamed, I know Storm makes a good product [and I do like their stuff, but the last Storm I threw was the XXXTreme], but everywhere I turn, it's Virtual, Virtual, Virtual........

Nomad Solids are a BIG hit at Colony Park Lanes North, a bunch of guys that never, ever buy new stuff, are buying these from Bowlers Supply and having great matches. Great balls and great prices...

The Solid sold very well for us, the pearl tho is not your typical pearl. It is a very smooth controlable and earlier rolling pearl. For those that are looking for a ball with strong backend they see the reign being thrown and they pick it more often.

Understood. Even when people don't know what they're doing with it, it hits hard. It IS an excellent pin mover. Makes people seem like they're a better bowler than they are. Feeds their ego.

Yup, everyone wants to see the big backend, as if they were responsible for it.
Then when the Reign or similar ball leaves washouts or splits because the owner can't control it, but the guy on the other team is hitting the pocket with the Nomad pearl or similar control pearl, the Reign owner wonders what's going on. Then I smile.

Ha, ha! This is too funny! And right on point! We just had position round against the 1st place team. The guy I was bowling against, started out on fire with a 269 game! He had three Reigns he was using. One with a high pin, between the fingers, one with a pin under ring, and one with a pin right of ring, cg kicked fairly strong.
After his rip roaring 1st game, he was fishing all the rest of the night. Never bowled another two hundred game thereafter, cause he was dealing with over-under hell!
I used my Nomad all three games and just moved in after each insuing game.
Never once lost the pocket. We won three outta four from them....needless to say! Too funny!
P.S. Hey RotoGuy300 and Astroman......what areas of the country are you guys in? I''m in DC/MD/VA area.

I''ve only seen 1 Nomad Solid here, that''s it. Nobody is using the Nomad Pearl, I haven''t even seen a Reign yet. I see guys who don''t hook the ball at all (I mean that) using Jigsaws and Jigsaw Corners, but only 1 Nomad in the entire house. The other houses I bowl at are much of the same, but I do see the Cell Pearl more in the other houses.
I''ll leave my rant about people who throw darts all over the lane buying high end gear for another thread, but the popular stuff here still seems to be that which hooks off the lane.

Tell me sean-o Murphdiggitydawg, when you see these balls in question are they from your practice sessions? Because we all know you don't bowl in your wed. night parking lot league anymore.

I was talking to the pro shop guy at the bowling alley I bowl at and I was telling him how much I love the Nomad solid and pearl and how happy I am with there reactions and how they hit and how I like them a lot better than the higher price balls I have. However he told me he has only drilled up two of the solids ones since they've been out and he said that this happens alot with todays mid priced equipment because everybody wants the newest hook in the box.
-
I'm in the Seattle area.
BTW- In response to the Nomad/Mars reaction being too close, that couldn't be further from the truth. Those balls vary greatly. Completely different reaction in terms of both shape and amount. In fact, great enough to where our next 2 releases are designed to close the gap between the two.
For those of you wanting the best performance/price combination on the market, trust me, you can't wait for the Dark Star and the Riot.

How exactly do you market the Nomad, its not the hook monster 90% of bowlers want..and its not plastic to pick up spares, unfortunately those are the only two things I hear when hanging out at the pro shop. Too many people say "what hooks the most...or what is the most aggressive" or the opposite "how much for a plastic spare ball"...nothing in the middle. Last week I recomended a nomad for a guy who said his onyx vibe (drilled aggressively) wasnt finishing enough and he told me it wasnt enough ball for him, wouldnt even look at the sheet for the nomad...was sold on getting a mutant no matter what.
The difference between a true bowler and a weekly "hack", is the ability to recognize an absolutely magnificent piece of equipment such as the Nomad, when you see/use it!
If they don't want it, that is their loss! I'll probably run across some of these same individuals, as I'm kicking their arses in a future tournament, or two!

The Nomad is a GREAT ball...too bad the house I bowl at hasn't been putting out enough oil to use it more than warm-ups and a few frames of the first game. My Mars has been getting a workout for the last 12 weeks or so...and its almost too strong by the end of the set...

That which doesn't kill you will only make you stronger, that which doesn't make you stronger is a waste of time!

+1, I have the same opinion about the Grand Illusion, I never saw another one being throw but it is still my benchmark ball. It is not hook in a box but a very controllable piece but never really saw a lot of hype with the an introduction shortly before the Cell Pearl.

I don't know either. There is the first US Nomad I have seen in person, now setting in the Pro Shop display. The Hybrid Nomad I bought online is the only Nomad I see rolling here in my part of NM.
Since I was replacing a Silver Streak SE, the hybrid version is the one I was looking for all along
