Question for all Idol Owners?
« on: May 11, 2018, 07:34:59 AM »
Getting one drilled tonight. Is this a stronger version of the Trick? In other words would it be safe to put the same drilling as I have on my Trick and expect a similar motion , just stronger? Thank you

Yes and no.

I have both with the same layout.  For me, the Idol is similar but not as smooth as the Trick.  It is stronger overall and more angular than the Trick.  But it's not Sure Lock stronger and it's not Fused angular.

But take my word for what it is - I am a lefty who ideally likes to throw straight and hard.  For point of comparison, I used both this past weekend and was 2 boards deeper with the Idol and feeding it to the same break point as the Trick.  2 boards is not much on the right side of the lane but when you account for less built-in friction on the left, the high speed at which I throw, and opening launch angle to feed left, it's enough to see a real difference between both balls.

I agree with the above.

The Idol is more motion overall when compared to the Trick. It's stronger but also a little more in the back

I've been considering an Idol for a good while now but its strength has me worried I won't be able to stick with it for the bulk of league night. Is this true for any of you or am I just making up issues for myself? lol

Looks like you throw a Fanatic SS, do you use that ball most of the time? Id compare that ball to the Dare Devil Trick. The Idol would be a little stronger overall with more backend.

From what I've seen a lot of our bowlers really like their idol but I see very few of them throwing them in game 3

Ya the Fanatic gets the bulk of the play, I sometimes have to look at something different in game 3 but there are nights when its the only ball I use. I wonder if the Code X might be a better way to go; I watched a guy throw it on the house shot in a 8 game mini-marathon 3 days ago and never once did he change balls.

Out of the box, too strong for most house shots.  After 15 games of lane shine, still strong, but playable on medium-medium heavy stuff.  Polish would be a shortcut too, but I prefer lane shine.
