Menace for $150?
« on: June 26, 2017, 02:39:35 PM »
So I wanted to see if this was a good deal. Ive never thrown a Menace, and Ive never seen one on the lanes as well. My boy who works at the ProShop near me has one he is trying to sell for $150 including drilling and everything.
Is that a steal, or should i pass? Any thoughts?

It's not an awful deal. The Menace didn't seem to be a particularly popular ball, at least in my area, but I don't think it was bad. Just overlooked.

$150 for a new ball with drilling sounds about right. Could be a tad on the high end for an older release, but the performance shouldn't be much different than what you would expect from a current high-end asymmetrical solid with surface and a strong coverstock.

That's a pretty good deal if it's out the door, basically breaking even for the shop if they bought it at regular price when it was in production.  It's not THAT old, and it's like a slightly stronger asym DD Trick.

Agree with Coor Zero:
If it's a ball that you can use well, and your driller knows your game enough to drill it properly for you, and you see enough oil (It was meant for very heavy oil and has a strong asymmetric core), then it's can be a very good deal. It probably originally went for $225 - 240 drilled, when it was new on the market.

If you don't see true medium-heavy to heavy oil or you aren't speed dominant, or the driller doesn't know your game AND the conditions you bowl on, it could be $150 boat anchor.

As mentioned above, it's a deal that's hard to pass up.

In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
