Something to go good with my SD
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:20:06 AM »
I got an SD and its really great, but i want a ball under it. Something with similar reaction and i was thinking about the horizon. Any one got better ideas LMK. I'm going to drill it the same way, PAP 4 1/2.

Thanks.

Hey! I made it all the way to the gutter. Shouldn't I get like 20 points or something?

I'm liking the Mystic as a good compliment to the SD. Few boards weaker, much cleaner up front with a little more angle on the back.

The mystic says medium-heavy as does the SD. I would believe the SD hook more, but how much more than the mystic. Seems like the horizon would hook less than the mystic since it's described as a medium type ball. I haven't seen neither ball in action so i don't really know. But the mytic looks better IMO.

Any more input would be thankful.

Also, I got a BWP now, but has too much backend and is inconsistence for me. Something to replace that with more of the SD-73 reaction.

If that info helps any.
Thanks again

If you already have the BWP, I don't think you need another pearl in the Horizon.  Consider the Horizon Solid, but for it to fit under the SD, you may need a surface adjustment.  I have the Horizon Solid, and have tried it at 1000 Abralon, 2000, and 4000, depending on the condition.  Surface is very tunable.

Another option to consider is the Odyssey.  I have thrown this ball, and it is an absolute monster.  It will probably handle about the same amount of oil as the SD, but will give you a different look on the lane.

Yep i was going to post the same thing but waited to see if anyone else was thinking like me, i would go with horizon solid and then polish it up or 4k no polish. Another choice would be a Venus but that is bigger step down from the BWP, Horizon pearl is as strong as your BWP btw. Of course you could go with a Horizon pearl and polish the piss out of it. But it will not roll the same as the sd like the Horizon solid will.

Polish Horizon Solid...Silver Streak SE (if you can put a hand on one)...Epic Saga (slightly weaker drill, with a surface adjustment perhaps?)

I would go with the Horizon Solid and adjust surface as necessary.  I'd start at 4000 grit Abralon and go from there.  It'll give you that same strong midlane and arc as the SD but less (assuming your SD still has some surface).

Since you are looking for smooth, the Mystic would probably end up being too strong downlane.  You could adjust the surface and layout but then you would be better going with the Horizon Solid at that point.
