Title: Rising Star
Post by: prmtme on February 03, 2012, 01:42:06 PM
Would the Rising Star be a good ball to go below a Bandit or are they to close. If they are to close what be a good ball to go to when the lanes start to dry up.I am looking for good length to get through the mids and strong backend

Rising star would actually get less length than the Bandit, it would be a little earlier and a little less flippy. I would recommend a Tropical Storm or breeze, or a Dark Star or Riot to go below the Bandit.

What do you think would be better, the breezes or the tropical storms. I haven't seen anybody throw either one.

I dont have the 'Bandit' but I have the 'Rising Star' and its a really good ball when the lanes start drying up, like when the 1st ball (usually the stronger ball) starts checking up early the 'Rising Star' performs very well.

I have mine drilled to play a small swing shot and its usually money for that type of shot, however, its not a dry lane ball as it will hook =-)

You can also try a 'Riot'. What I did with my 'Riot' was take it up to 4000 abralon (comes at 2K Abr) and then I added a nice coat of polish and BAM a real nice control ball when the lanes start to dry...btw, I got that tip from Charlest.

The Tropical Breeze is weaker than the Tropical Storm. Both are good. Also, I do have some long pin x-out Dark Stars for sale which are a step down from the Rising Star, but in the same line.

I am in a similar position with the poster, I have a Bandit and am looking for something for drier lanes. In league, I generally use my Outlaw/Bandit as a lethal tandem with no problem. I need something for those nights when I jackpot with the fellaz and the lanes are bone dry and the bandit is just too much ball. I see from this discussion that the Rising star would prob. be a bit too much for what im looking for but would somewhat be  step down from the Bandit. Sound right?

Rising Star would be a little earlier, but hook a little less overall, probably not a step down from the Bandit for the condition you seek. My ball recommendations are in a prior post.

Just my 2 cents... If you don't mind a different ball company, the Seismic Solaris Blackout is a great ball.  It fits perfectly below my Rising Star, which is by the way stronger than advertised.

the tropical heat would be the ball. it goes a lot longer and snaps when it get past the fronts

What have most of you done with the cover on your Rising Star? have you keep it oob or adjusted it? i would like to get a more smoother / even roll  type of reation on mine. mine is still in the oob condition, note it does not have alot of games on it, only aprox 9 games on it.

I have used it both polished and sanded. In your situation I would try knocking the polish off with 3k or 4k abralon.

I personally didn't care for the Rising Star. But the Darkstar is incredible. I thought the RS was too early and when I changed surface to 2000 polish and 4000 polished it didn't finish.
